Overview

This document provides comprehensive instructions for the safe installation, operation, and maintenance of a Hotpoint induction hob. It emphasizes safety warnings, proper usage, and troubleshooting tips to ensure optimal performance and longevity of the appliance.

Function Description

The Hotpoint induction hob is designed for household cooking, offering multiple cooking zones with varying power levels. Its core function relies on induction technology, which heats cookware directly through electromagnetic fields, providing efficient and precise cooking. The hob features a control panel with touch-sensitive keys for activating cooking zones, adjusting power levels, and setting timers.

Key functions include:

  • Cooking Zones: Multiple zones are available, each with a scroll keypad for power adjustment.
  • Power Levels: Ranging from zero power (off) to maximum power (P), including a "Fast heating/Booster" function for rapid temperature increase.
  • Timers: Two independent timers control the left and right-hand cooking zones, allowing for precise cooking durations. An indicator light confirms when a timer is active.
  • FLEXI DUO: This feature allows combining two cooking zones into a single large area, ideal for oversized or irregularly shaped cookware.
  • My Menu: This button activates special functions, offering pre-set cooking modes like "Melting," "Keep Warm," "Slow Cooking," and "Boiling."
  • Control Panel Lock: A safety feature that locks the control panel to prevent accidental activation or changes to settings.
  • Residual Heat Indicator (H): Displays when a cooking zone is hot, even after being switched off, for safety.
  • Pot Incorrectly Positioned or Missing Indicator: Alerts the user if cookware is unsuitable for induction, incorrectly placed, or absent.

Usage Features

The hob is designed for intuitive and efficient cooking.

  • Switching On/Off: A single power button controls the entire hob.
  • Activating Cooking Zones: Users slide their finger across the scroll keypad of the desired zone to activate it and adjust the power level. The "P" button provides a fast heating function.
  • Deactivating Cooking Zones: Selecting the "OFF" button on the scroll keypad deactivates a zone.
  • Timer Activation: The "+" or "-" buttons are used to set the desired time for a cooking zone. The timer automatically switches off the zone once the set time elapses.
  • FLEXI DUO Usage: Pressing the "FLEXI DUO" button combines two zones. The function remains active, allowing a single pot to be moved across the combined area, with both left-hand scroll keypads controlling the power.
  • My Menu Special Functions: After selecting a cooking zone, pressing the "My Menu" button cycles through available special functions. Confirmation is done via the "OK" button. These functions have pre-set power levels that cannot be modified.
  • Cookware Compatibility: The hob requires ferromagnetic cookware suitable for induction. Users are advised to check for the "lll" symbol on pot bottoms or use a magnet to verify compatibility. Minimum diameter guidelines for pots are provided for each cooking area to ensure proper function.
  • Energy Saving Tips: Recommendations include utilizing residual heat, using pots with bases that cover the hot plate completely, covering pots with tight-fitting lids, and using flat-bottomed pots.
  • Power Management: The hob's maximum power can be adjusted to align with the home's electrical system. This setting can be configured during initial setup and persists even after power interruptions.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning and maintenance are crucial for the hob's performance and appearance.

  • Cleaning: The hob should be cleaned after each use, once it has cooled down, to remove food residues. A soft cloth, absorbent kitchen paper, or a special hob cleaner is recommended.
  • Avoid Abrasives: Abrasive sponges, scouring pads, corrosive products, or chlorine-based cleaners should not be used as they can damage the glass surface.
  • Scraper Use: A scraper can be used for stubborn residues, following the manufacturer's instructions to avoid scratching the glass.
  • Sugar Spills: Sugar or high-sugar content foods must be removed immediately as they can damage the hob.
  • CleanProtect Hobs: If the hob features CleanProtect technology, specific cleaning recommendations include soaking stained areas with water and using a non-abrasive sponge.
  • Drying: After cleaning, the hob should be thoroughly dried.
  • Safety During Maintenance: Always ensure the appliance is switched off and disconnected from the power supply before any maintenance. Steam cleaning equipment must not be used.

The manual also addresses troubleshooting common issues, such as error codes (e.g., FOE1 for incompatible cookware, FOEA for high temperatures) and provides corresponding solutions. It also details how to switch acoustic signals on/off and activate/deactivate "DEMO MODE." For any persistent issues or repairs, users are directed to contact authorized after-sales service, providing specific product details to ensure correct assistance.
