Why won't my Hotpoint Dryer start?

  There are several reasons why your Hotpoint Dryer might not start: * The plug may not be properly inserted into the socket or is not making proper contact. Try plugging another appliance into the same socket to test it. * There may have been a power failure. * A fuse may have blown. * You might be using an extension cord. Try plugging the dryer's power cord directly into the socket. * The TIMER knob might not be set correctly. * The START button might not have been pressed. * The START button might have been pressed while the door was open. Ensure the door is closed before pressing the START button. Also, try closing the door, waiting a few seconds, and then pressing the START button again.
