Separation pad

Remove all covers, the RFI shield, the printer door, the LIU board,
the formatter board, the metal side plate, the paper pickup gear,
the pickup roller assembly, and the kick plate.

Lift the bottom of the white plastic tab (callout 1) on the rear of the
paper feed frame up slightly and slide it up, toward the top of the
paper feed frame. This will release the separation pad.

Lift the separation pad 90 degrees and slide its mounting pins out
of their retainers.

Note
If you replace the separation pad, also replace the pickup roller
assembly and subpads. See the removal procedures for subpads on
the following page and also see Figure 96, “Paper pickup assembly,”
in Chapter 7.
