Front Panel Operation for the Short Correction
There are two pro cedures: SHORT correction at all frequency p oints,
and SHORT correction at user specied frequency p oints.
Perform the following steps to execute the SHORT correction for all
frequency points. When you want to execute the short correction at
the user sp ecied frequency points, refer to \LOAD Correction".
1. Move the cursor to the

MEAS SHORT
. The HP 4284A will measure the short
imp edance (inductance and resistance) at the preset frequency
points. The time required to measure the short correction data is
approximately 90 s. During the SHORT correction measure cycle,
the following softkey is available.
NNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN
ABORT
This softkey is used to stop the short correction data
measurement. The previous SHORT correction data is still
stored.
3. Press

to p erform SHORT correction calculations on
subsequent measurements when the

FREQ2
, and

When the
FREQ1
,
FREQ2
, and
FREQ3
elds are set to ON, and
the test frequency is equal to FREQ1/2/3, the SHORT correction
data at FREQ1/2/3 is used. (Refer to Appendix D.)
4.
Press
NNNNNNNNNNN
OFF
to halt SHORT correction calculations on subsequent
measurements.
LOAD Correction
Description
The HP 4284A's LOAD correction capability corrects for the
other errors by using the transmission co ecient derived from
the relationship between a standard's (premeasured) reference
value to the actual measurementvalue at the frequency p oints you
specify (up to three frequency p oints). So, OPEN/ SHORT/LOAD
corrections can b e performed at the frequency points you specify
(Refer to Figure 4-13). The three frequency p oints can be set in the
FREQ1
,
FREQ2
, and
FREQ3
elds. The standard's reference values
are set in the
REF A
, and
B
elds. Before entering the standard's
reference values, the measurement function for the standard must
