Installation and Set Up Guide
This chapter provides the information necessary for performing an
incoming insp ection and setting up the HP 4284A. The main topics
in this chapter are:

Toavoid hazardous electrical shock, do not turn on the HP 4284A
when there are signs of shipping damage to any portion of the outer
enclosure (for example, covers, panel, or display)
Insp ect the shipping container for damage. If the shipping container
or cushioning material is damaged, it should b e kept until the
contents of the shipmenthave b een checked for completeness and
the HP 4284A has b een checked mechanically and electrically. The
contents of the shipment should b e as listed in Table 1-1 . If the
contents are incomplete, if there is mechanical damage or defect, or if
the analyzer do es not pass the p ower-on selftests, notify the nearest
Hewlett-Packard oce. If the shipping container is damaged, or the
cushioning material shows signs of unusual stress, notify the carrier
as well as the Hewlett-Packard oce. Keep the shipping materials for
the carrier's insp ection.
