Performance Tests
Introduction
This chapter provides the test pro cedures to verify that the
HP 4284A meets the sp ecications listed in Chapter 9. All tests can
be performed without accessing the indicator of the instruments.
Performance tests are used to p erform incoming inspection and to
verify that the HP 4284A is within its performance sp ecication
after troublesho oting or adjustmenthave b een p erformed. If
the p erformance tests indicate that the HP 4284A is not within
specications, checkyour test setup, then pro ceed to Adjustmentor
Troublesho oting as required.
Note
Allow the HP 4284A to warm up a minimum of 30 minutes b efore
starting any of the p erformance tests.

The p erformance tests are valid only when p erformed in an ambient
temperature of 23

Test Equipment
Table 10-1 lists the test equipment required to p erform the tests
described in this chapter. Use only calibrated test instruments when
performance testing the HP 4284A. If the recommended equipmen
t
with sp ecications equal to or surpassing those of the recommended
equipmentmay b e used.
Note
Comp onents used as standards must b e (1) calibrated using an
instrument whose sp ecications are traceable to the National Bureau
of Standard (
NBS
) or an equivalent standards group, or (2) calibrated
directly by an authorized calibration organization, such as NBS.
The calibration cycle dep ends on the stability specication of eac

component.
