Inspect the shipping container for damage . If t he
shipping container o r c ushioning m aterial is d am-
aged, i t should be k ept until t he contents of t he
shipment h ave b een c hecked for completeness and
t he instrument h as b een c hecked mechanically
a nd e lectrically . The contents of t he shipment
should beas shown in Figure 1-1 . Procedures f or
c hecking electrical performance are given in Sec-
tion IV . If t he contents are incomplete, if t here i s
m echanical damage or defect, or if t he instrument
does n ot p ass the electrical performance tests, no-
tify the n earest H ewlett-Packard o ffice . If t he
shipping container is d amaged, or t he cushioning
m aterial s hows signs of stress, n otify t he carrier
as well as the H ewlett-Packard o ffice . K eep t he
shipping m aterials f or t he carrier's inspection .

To select the correct RANGE switch knob assem-
bly scale (see Figure 2-1) :

Unscrew t he outer (black) knobby t urning i t
counterclockwise . Then, r emove the outer knob .

R emove the two scale rings .
c .

D etermine which o f t he 3 scales i s to be u sed .
d . Place the other scale ring on the knob
assembly .
e .

Place the selected ring on the knob assembly
with t he selected scale out .

Lineup the tabs of t he scale rings with t he
slot in t he knob assembly .
g . Hold the scale rings in place with your
fingers
. Thread t he outer knob onto the knob
assembly . Lightly
t ighten t he knob .
