Lower paper tray and open print cartridge door. Remove all packing material.
Check the printer box contents; a USB cable may need separate purchase.
Connect the power cord and adapter, but do not connect the USB cable yet.
Close the print cartridge access door after initial setup.
Ensure the paper tray is open and extended correctly.
Load plain white paper into the tray, avoiding overfilling.
Press the power button to turn on the printer. Refer to Basics Guide for panel buttons.
Open the print cartridge door and wait for the carriage to move to the center.
Remove protective tape from both print cartridges before installation.
Insert the color cartridge into the left slot and the black cartridge into the right slot.
Close the cartridge door; the printer will print an alignment page for quality.
Place the printed alignment page face down on the scanner glass and close the lid.
Press the Scan button and wait for the green power light to stop blinking.
Insert the software CD into the computer and follow startup screen instructions.
Follow on-screen instructions to finish the software installation process.
Insert the Mac software CD and launch the HP All-in-One Installer.
Follow the on-screen prompts to complete the Setup Assistant for Mac.
When prompted, connect the USB cable to the printer and computer ports.
Resolve issues with the Microsoft Add Hardware wizard during setup.
Troubleshoot failure to complete device setup by checking connections and power.
