Display
Scientific
notation
display
is
useful
when
you
are
working
with
large
or
very
small
numbers
and
allows
all
answers
to
be
dis-
played
with
a
specific
number
of
digits
after
the
decimal
point.
It
is
selected
by
pressing
[DspP]
followed
by
the
appropriate
number
key
to
specify
the
number
of
decimal
places
to
which
the
number
is
seen
rounded.
Again,
the
display
is
left-justified
and
includes
trailing
zeros
within
the
selected
setting.
For

In
scientific
notation
display,
the
HP-21
shows
only
eight
digits
plus
the
two-digit
exponent
of
ten.
So
even
though
you
may
try
to
carry
the
operation
out
farther,
the
calculator
will
display
a
maximum
of
eight
digits.
For
example,
continuing
the
above
operation
results
in
no
apparent
change
in
the
display:
