Before removing the front USB board, follow these steps:
1.
Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn the
computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2.
Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3.
Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet and
then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.
4.
Remove the battery (see
Battery on page 46).
5.
Remove the following components:

Hard drive (see

b.
Optical drive (see
Optical drive on page 60)
c.
Switch cover (see
Switch cover on page 62)
d.
Keyboard (see
Keyboard on page 64)
e.
Speaker assembly (see
Speaker assembly on page 67)

g.

Remove the front USB board:
1. Disconnect the front USB board cable (1) from the ExpressCard assembly. The front USB board cable
is included with the front USB board spare part kit and is also included in the Cable Kit, spare part
number 448015-001.
2. Remove the silver Phillips PM2.5×5.0 screw (2) that secures the front USB board to the computer.
