Using Emergency Shutdown Procedures
If the notebook does not respond to the standard Windows
shutdown procedure lbr your operating system, try the lbllowing
emergency shutdown procedures in the sequence provided:
• Press ctrl+alt+del. Then
In Windows XP Home, select Shut Down > Turn Off.
In Windows XP Pro_%ssional, select Shut down from the
drop-down list, and then select OK.
Press and hold down the power/standby button _br at least
4 seconds.
• Unplug the notebook _iom external power and remove the
battery pack. For battery pack removal instructions ret%r to
the "Replacing a Battery Pack" section later in this chapter.
