Overview

This document describes the B 235 Evo wheel balancer, a machine designed for effective and safe wheel balancing operations.

Function Description:

The B 235 Evo is a microprocessor-controlled wheel balancer that offers a wide range of balancing programs and features to ensure accurate and efficient wheel balancing. Its primary function is to measure and correct unbalance in wheels, minimizing vibrations and improving driving comfort and safety. The machine can be used for both car and motorcycle wheels, with specific programs tailored for each.

Key operational features include:

  • Automatic Distance and Diameter Measurement: The machine is equipped with an automatic sensor arm to measure the distance and diameter of the rim.
  • AWD (Auto Width Device) Programme: For models fitted with an ultrasonic sensor, this program automatically measures the wheel width.
  • AWC (Auto Width Calculation) Programme: Allows for manual insertion of the wheel width when an ultrasonic sensor is not present or desired.
  • Automatic Brake: Stops the wheel at the end of the spin cycle.
  • Wheel-holder Shaft Locking Brake: Secures the wheel during balancing operations.
  • STOP Button: Provides an immediate stop function for safety.
  • Automatic Start: Balancing spin can be initiated by simply lowering the wheel guard.
  • Display Unit: Features a luminous digital display with double display and 3D graphics for clear visualization of data.
  • Balancing Modes: Offers various modes including Standard (dynamic on both rim sides), Alu/ALU P (seven routines for alloy rims), Motorcycle Dynamic (both sides of motorcycle rims), Motorcycle ALU (dynamic on both sides of alloy motorcycle rims), and Static (on a single side).
  • "Shift Planes" Programme (ALU P): Allows the use of multiple five-gram weights without the need for partial cuts, improving balancing accuracy.
  • "Hidden Weight" Programme (ALU IP and ALU 2P): Conceals external adhesive weights behind two spokes for aesthetic reasons by splitting the weight into two equal parts.
  • "Split Weight" Programme (Motorcycle Programmes): Divides counterweights into two parts for rims with wide spokes, where placing adhesive weights next to each other is not possible.
  • "OPT Flash" Programme: For rapid optimization and reduction of operating noise.
  • "FSP" (Fast Selection Program) Programme: Automatically selects the appropriate balancing program.
  • RPA (Automatic Position Search): Automatically positions the wheel to the exact location where the balancing weight needs to be applied.
  • Weight Application Position Selection: Allows selection of adhesive weight application position (e.g., vertical plane in the lower part of the wheel (H6) using a LASER line, or upper part (H12), or using the weight-holder terminal (CLIP)).
  • Independent Working Environments: Supports two operators working in parallel without resetting data.
  • Wheel Spin Counter: Tracks the total number of spins, spins since last calibration, and partial spins since the machine was last started.
  • Unbalance Calibration with Calibration Weight: A procedure to ensure the machine's sensitivity and accuracy.
  • Calibration of the Ultrasonic Width Sensor: For models equipped with this sensor, a calibration procedure is available to ensure accurate width measurements.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Machine Weight (with guard, without accessories and with external measuring sensor): 200 kg.
  • Noise Level in Operation: < 70 dB(A).
  • Compressed Air Supply: 7-10 bar (100-145 psi) for automatic wheel clamping system.

Usage Features:

  • User-Friendly Interface: Wide selection of programs and a clear display panel with status icons and a control keypad make the machine easy to use.
  • Automatic Wheel Clamping System (C): Provides procedures for centring with front cone, rear cone, and flanges, ensuring secure wheel mounting.
  • Wheel Data Entry: Allows for automatic or manual input of wheel dimensions (distance, diameter, and width). The machine can detect rim type (e.g., Passenger Tyre, Light Truck Tyre) and suggest appropriate balancing programs.
  • Unbalance Display Rounding-Off: Users can choose to display unbalance values rounded to the nearest multiple of five grams/quarters of an ounce or to the gram/tenth of an ounce for finer adjustments.
  • Operator Selection: The machine supports two different operators with independent working environments, saving balancing mode and wheel dimensions for each.
  • LED Light and Laser Indicator: Optional features that assist in weight application and dimension acquisition.
  • Safety Features: Includes warnings for improper operation (e.g., operating without guard, tampering with safety devices), instructions for emergency stops, and guidelines for safe handling and installation.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Cleaning: Emphasizes keeping the working area clean and avoiding compressed air or water jets for cleaning. Specific instructions for cleaning the wheel balancer shaft, securing ring nut, centring cones, and flanges using environmentally friendly solvents are provided.
  • Display Panel Cleaning: Recommends using ethyl alcohol for cleaning the display panel.
  • Calibration Procedures: Advises performing the calibration procedure at least once every six months. This includes unbalance calibration with a calibration weight and, if installed, calibration of the ultrasonic width sensor.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: Provides a list of common faults and their solutions, such as issues with power, automatic measuring devices, unsteady unbalance values, and non-spinning wheels.
  • Demolition Information: Instructions for proper disposal of electrical, electronic, plastic, and metal parts in accordance with environmental regulations at the end of the machine's life.
  • Spare Parts: Warns against using non-original spare parts and emphasizes that only operations explicitly described in the user manual should be performed by the user.

The B 235 Evo is designed for professional use in protected environments, ensuring accurate and reliable wheel balancing with a focus on operator safety and ease of use.
