Overview

The HQUA-ASC01 is an instruction manual for a housing/cabinet designed for the PAS Pond Aeration System. This manual outlines the installation, safety, general information, maintenance, and after-sales service for the cabinet, which is intended to house and protect the aeration system's pump and electrical components.

Function Description

The primary function of the HQUA-ASC01 cabinet is to provide a protective enclosure for the pump and electrical components of the PAS Pond Aeration System. It is designed to shield these vital parts from environmental elements such as weather, water, and potential physical damage, thereby extending the lifespan and ensuring the reliable operation of the aeration system. The cabinet is constructed from weatherproof galvanized steel, offering robust protection against the elements. It incorporates a high-flow cooling fan and double air filters to maintain an optimal operating temperature for the pump and prevent the ingress of dust and debris. The pre-wired electrical box and a 10-foot, 3-pin plug cord simplify the electrical connection, ensuring a safe and straightforward setup. Removable footholds are included to elevate the cabinet, further protecting it from ground moisture and potential flooding. The cabinet also features a waterproof door, which can be locked for added security, safeguarding the internal components from unauthorized access or tampering.

Usage Features

The HQUA-ASC01 cabinet is designed for ease of installation and practical use in various outdoor environments. When selecting a location, it is crucial to find a stable ground with adequate strength to support the unit. The cabinet should always be situated above the high-water line and away from irrigation sprinklers to prevent water damage, as the bottom side is not weatherproof. Considerations for potential flooding and heavy rains are essential for long-term reliability.

For quicker installation, the cabinet can be located near the pond's edge if a power source is readily available. Alternatively, if a power source is not near the pond's edge or if a different location is preferred, the cabinet can be installed next to a barn, shed, or house. It is important to note that the length of the airline connecting the pump to the pond will affect the pressure to the pump and consequently the maximum aeration depth. For instance, with the PAS10 system, each 100 feet of air hose increases pressure by 0.35-0.4 bar (5-5.8 PSI), diminishing the maximum depth by 11-13 feet. For the PAS20 system, each 100 feet of air hose increases pressure by 0.17-0.2 bar (2.5-3 PSI), reducing the maximum depth by 5.5-6.5 feet.

The installation process involves several steps:

  1. Unlocking and Opening the Cabinet: The cabinet door can be unlocked and opened using the provided key, allowing access to the interior for component placement.
  2. Routing Power Cords: Power cords should be routed out from the bottom holes of the cabinet to ensure proper connection and organization.
  3. Attaching Footholds: The cabinet's backside should be placed on the ground, and the four footholds screwed on to elevate the unit.
  4. Removing the Roof: The roof of the cabinet can be unscrewed from the corners without the need for additional tools, facilitating internal access.
  5. Installing Fan and Grill Protector: The grill protector and fan are fitted with four screws and fixed onto the cabinet's inner grill. It is crucial that the hump side of the grill protector faces outwards to prevent it from obstructing the fan and causing buzzing when powered on.
  6. Installing Hole Covers: Hole covers are installed at the bottom of the cabinet for the airlines, ensuring a neat and protected entry point.
  7. Placing the Pump: The pump is placed into the cabinet from the top side. Proper direction is vital for ventilation; the air outlet should be on the same side as the power outlet, and the air filter should face the opposite direction.
  8. Securing Power Cords: Spare pump power electric cords should be fixed on the cabinet to prevent them from moving around and getting damaged.
  9. Connecting Airlines: Airlines are inserted through the hole covers and connected to the pump using hose clamps.
  10. Reattaching the Roof: Once all internal components are in place and connected, the roof is screwed back onto the cabinet.

The pre-wired outlet inside the cabinet connects to a power plug that should be connected to an outdoor outlet or hard-wired using a waterproof junction box/connector/glue. It is essential that this connection is protected by a Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) to ensure electrical safety.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance of the HQUA-ASC01 cabinet is crucial to ensure its continued efficiency and longevity. The primary maintenance task involves cleaning the sponge filter monthly. If the filter becomes severely clogged, it should be washed and dried. Typically, the sponge filter needs to be replaced annually. However, if it reaches a state where it cannot be effectively cleaned, it should be replaced sooner to maintain optimal airflow and prevent dust and debris from entering the cabinet and affecting the pump. This proactive maintenance helps in preserving the integrity of the aeration system and ensures consistent performance.
