What to do if the electric pump will not run on my HTL Power Tool?
    • R
      Rachel YoderSep 12, 2025
If the electric pump won't run, check for loose electric connections in the control box. If needed, replace the necessary motor components. Bad brushes could also be the problem, so change the defective fuse.

Why does the ratchet return with a retract stroke on my HTL DS?
    • T
      Thomas FloresSep 13, 2025
If the ratchet returns with the retract stroke, it could be due to a broken or otherwise inoperable drive segment. Consider replacing the drive segment and/or spring.

Why won't the ratchet take successive strokes on my HTL DS Power Tool?
    • T
      Terry DiazSep 14, 2025
If the ratchet won't take successive strokes, it could be due to a broken or otherwise inoperative drive segment or spring. Replace the drive segment and/or spring. Another reason might be that the cylinder isn't retracting completely; remove the tool from the nut and cycle it freely for several strokes. If the problem persists, check the pawls. Also, the linkage between the piston rod and drive plates could be broken, requiring replacement of the parts.

Why does my HTL DS Power Tool lock onto the nut?
    • R
      Ryan FletcherSep 17, 2025
If the tool locks onto the nut, it could be because the drive segment is loaded when the tool is maxed out in torque. To resolve this, press the advance button on the remote to build pressure, continue pressing down on the remote while pulling back on one of the accuracy assurance levers, and then release the remote while continuing to hold back on the levers. Another possibility is that the tool is operating backwards; in this case, push the advance button down, and the tool should immediately fall free. Lastly, the tool might be wedged under a fixed object. If so, remove the shroud from around the ratchet. Using any available tool, pry the drive segment out of the ratchet while simultaneously pulling back on the accuracy assurance levers. The tool should then swing free.

What to do if wrench pressure will not build in my HTL DS Power Tool?
    • F
      franciscocarterNov 21, 2025
If the wrench pressure isn't building, several factors could be at play. There might be oil blow-by in the wrench due to a piston seal leak, a blown O-ring, or a cracked piston, requiring replacement of the defective parts. Alternatively, the pump itself could be the issue. Check if the sub plate is worn: remove the screws from the pump motor to the reservoir, slide the pump motor to the side, turn the pump on, and while holding down the button, put your finger on the dump tube. If you feel pressure, replace the subplate and shear seals. Also, check for leaks from the external relief valve and the two oil line connections. If leaking, retighten with a 9/16” open end wrench. A faulty air valve, caused by excessive moisture or dirt in the air supply, could also be the culprit. In this case, ...

Drive Direction and Reaction Arm

Setting Torque and Pressure

Setting Torque

Determine required torque value and use the pressure-torque conversion chart.

Setting Pressure

Follow procedure to set pump pressure using T handle and locking ring.

Wrench Operating Procedures

Tightening Process

Cycle wrench before use. Place socket on nut. Ensure reaction arm is abutted. Apply pressure.

Loosening Procedure

Set pump to 10,000 psi. Change drive/arm to loosening mode. Press and hold button until click.

Maintenance and Testing

Prior to Use Test

Run test before every use. Cycle pump and observe tool operation sequence.

Troubleshooting Guide

Gauge and Cycling Problems

Troubleshoot gauge pressure build-up without tool cycling or cylinder retraction issues.
