GPS Antenna or NMEA2000 for GPS speed data input
Option 1: Connection to NMEA2000 Network
Connect to any GPS transmitting NMEA2000 Network according to the picture (right).
The Humphree Nmea2000 Drop Cable is pre fitted with the standardized Nmea2000 connector
and connects to any Nmea2000 T-Connector or Network Hub. T-Connectors and Network Hubs
are not supplied by Humphree.
Option 2: HUMPHREE GPS501 GPS-antenna
Part number: 020145
The GPS501 has a pre fitted Molex connector and connects directly to the GPS port (see picture).

(a) The Interface cable connects to the Control Panel CP-502 and is used for rudder position sensor, GPS, monitoring and remote control.
An EXTBUS manual is available on request. This connection accepts both RS-232 and RS-422.
(b) The Remote Key Switch cable is connected to the Control Panel CP-502 and to the ignition to set the system in stand-by mode only
using the boat’s ignition key.
(c) The Volvo Penta Gateway converts Volvo EVC signal to NMEA2000. If there is an NMEA2000 system on board, connect Humphree
NMEA2000 drop cable to the network and use the VP Gateway for receiving rudder position data.
(d) If a Volvo Penta powered boat doesn’t have NMEA2000 network the VPI will provide an interface for the rudder position data to the
EXTBUS connector on the Humphree Control Panel CP-502.
(e) The HCU502 (and RCU522/542) control unit contains an interface cable for NMEA0183 (RS-422) rudder position data, analogue input
for 4-20mA and 0-5V.
(f) The NMR501 receiver for NMEA2000 is connected between the control unit HCU/RCU and the Simrad RF25 rudder sensor. This is a
stand-alone rudder position interface solution that connects to the standard BUS connector on any Humphree HCU/RCU unit.

GPS Antenna or NMEA2000 for GPS Speed Data Input

Function Description: The system requires GPS speed data input, which can be achieved through two primary options: connection to an existing NMEA2000 network or using a dedicated Humphree GPS antenna. This input is crucial for the system's operational accuracy, particularly for functions that rely on vessel speed.

Option 1: Connection to NMEA2000 Network

  • Function Description: This option allows the Humphree system to integrate with an existing NMEA2000 network on the vessel. It leverages the vessel's existing GPS data source, simplifying installation and reducing the need for additional GPS hardware.
  • Usage Features:
    • Connects to any GPS transmitting NMEA2000 Network.
    • The Humphree NMEA2000 Drop Cable (Part No: 021869) is pre-fitted with a standardized NMEA2000 connector.
    • Connects to any NMEA2000 T-Connector or Network Hub.
    • Important Note: T-Connectors and Network Hubs are not supplied by Humphree.
