Grate Cover Plate
Your HWAM stove is supplied with a loose cover plate for the riddling grate. This is a 3 mm thick steel plate. It
is placed on top of the riddling grate and prevents the embers from falling into the ash pan. The cover plate is
raised approx. 8 mm above the grate, thus ensuring that the automatically controlled primary combustion air is
distributed evenly at the base of the combustion chamber.
Stoves Construction
Before the stove is installed, you must ensure that all the component parts are fitted correctly. See the vertical-
cross sections of the stoves page 8 onwards.
IMPORTANT:- Transport Security Tags
Beethoven, Monet, Mozart, Ravel, Vivaldi, Hwam 30 and Hwam 60
These models have a security tag to prevent damage to the stove by the baffle plate in transit. The baffle plate
is hung on three hooks under the top plate. The front middle hook has an extra bent tag as transport security
which should be removed before the stove is fitted. This must be removed to allow baffle removal for access
for sweeping and cleaning.
Removal before the stove is installed
The tag is visible as you look down through the flue spigot. It should be carefully snapped off by either using
pliers or a punch and a hammer.
The security tag should be removed before installation, however it is possible with some difficulty to remove
after installation. Take out the mica board baffle from the rear of the firebox. The security tag can be seen up at
the top of the inside of the fire box. To remove it a sharp blow with a hammer will break it off. The mica board
baffle should then be replaced.
