Overview

The iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera system is designed to assist with trailer hitching by providing a clear view of the hitch area. The system comprises a camera unit and a monitor, both engineered for ease of use and durability.

Function Description:

The primary function of the iBall Wireless Trailer Hitch Camera is to provide a real-time visual feed of a vehicle's trailer hitch area to a monitor inside the vehicle. This eliminates the need for a spotter or multiple attempts when hitching a trailer, making the process safer and more efficient. The camera transmits wirelessly to the monitor, offering flexibility in placement. The monitor displays a 3.5" color LCD image, allowing the user to precisely align the vehicle with the trailer. The camera unit itself is equipped with a magnetic base, enabling quick and secure attachment to any ferrous surface on the vehicle, such as the receiver hitch. Adjustment knobs on the camera allow for fine-tuning of the viewing angle to achieve the optimal perspective. The monitor features buttons for adjusting brightness, contrast, and saturation, as well as a picture rotate function to correct image orientation if needed.

Usage Features:

Camera Operation:

  • Charging: Before first use, the camera requires an 8-hour charge. For limited usage, an 8-hour charge every 30 days is recommended to maintain peak battery performance. Charging is done by lifting a side tab, inserting the supplied USB charger cable, and connecting it to a USB charger (not included). A solid red light indicates charging, while a green light signifies a full charge.
  • Powering On/Off: To power on the camera, press and hold the power button for five seconds. A red light on the front of the camera indicates it is active.

Helpful Tips:

  • Travel Advisory: It is not recommended to leave the camera attached to the vehicle while traveling at high speeds, as road vibration may cause the magnetic bond to fail.
  • Water Resistance: While weather resistant, the camera should not be submerged for extended periods.

Maintenance Features:

Troubleshooting Guide: The manual provides a comprehensive troubleshooting guide to address common issues:

  • Poor Image Quality/Static:
    • Cause: Distance between camera and monitor too far, environmental interference, low camera battery, or weak 12v monitor connection.
    • Solution: Move the camera closer to the monitor, move away from interfering buildings/objects, charge the camera battery, or check the 12v connection.
  • Camera Will Not Turn On/Off:
    • Cause: Power button not held down long enough, or low camera battery.
    • Solution: Firmly hold the power button for at least five seconds, or charge the camera for eight hours.
  • Monitor Will Not Turn On:
    • Cause: 12v outlet not supplying power, 12v connection not secure, or blown fuse in monitor's 12v power plug.
    • Solution: Try another 12v outlet, firmly secure the power plug, or replace the fuse (3A 250v) by turning the fuse cap (#6) counterclockwise.
  • Camera Will Not Stick to Vehicle:
    • Cause: Non-ferrous surface.
    • Solution: Mount the camera to an iron surface, such as the receiver hitch.

Warranty Information:

  • 30-Day Money Back Guarantee: If unsatisfied for any reason, the system can be returned within 30 days of the original purchase date for a full refund (less shipping).
