Installing Internal Drives
Installing a Drive in Bank D
Before you begin:
Be sure you have:
Purchased a hot-swap-drive tray for each hot-swap drive
that you plan to install and prepared the drive for
installation (see “Preinstallation Steps (All Bays)” on
page 204).
Opened the front cover (see “Preparing to Install Options”
on page 163). If you are installing or removing backplanes,
cables, the fan assembly, and adapters, also remove the side
cover.
Contacted an IBM reseller or IBM marketing representative
to order an additional 220-watt power supply for you, or
replace the existing power supply with an PC Server 780W
Redundant Power Option. Contact an IBM service
technician to install the power supply.
Purchased a hot-swap backplane to be installed at the rear of
bank D, as described in step 5 on page 224. (To order the
backplane, contact your IBM reseller or IBM marketing
representative.)
Ensured that the backplane address jumper J2 is set to “D.”
Removed the cardboard packing material from bank D.
