Installing Internal Drives
1. If required for your server, install an additional SCSI-2 adapter
in one of the empty expansion slots (see “Installing Adapters”
on page 180).
If the fan assembly is installed, you must remove it before you
can install the backplane at the rear of bank E.
2. Disconnect the fan assembly cable from the fan bracket.
Attention: To avoid damage and ensure proper server
operation, handle the fan assembly carefully. Remove the two
screws that hold the fan assembly in place. Remove the fan
assembly. (See steps 1 through 3 on page 223).
3. Make sure that the address jumper on the back of the backplane
is set to E. See “Setting the Backplane Address Jumper (J2)” on
page 251.
Note: When you daisy chain two banks in a disk-array model,
you must start the ServeRAID configuration program and
specify which channel the banks are connected to, and
the SCSI ID setting for each bank. (See “Changing the
ServeRAID Adapter Parameters” on page 130 for more
information on defining the Bank Mapping. See “Setting
Backplane SCSI ID Jumpers (J12)” on page 252 for
instructions on setting the SCSI ID jumpers.)
4. Install the backplane at the rear of bank E (see step 5 on
page 224).
5. Install a power cable that connects the backplane to the
additional power supply.
6. Connect a SCSI cable from the SCSI-2 adapter to the new
backplane.
Use one of the following examples to help you route the cables
properly.
