Overview

This document provides a quick guide for the IGEN LSW-5 WiFi Stick Logger, detailing its installation, LED indicator interpretations, abnormal status processing, and monitoring platform usage.

Function Description

The IGEN LSW-5 WiFi Stick Logger is a device designed to monitor and transmit data from an inverter to a monitoring platform via a WiFi network. It acts as a bridge between the inverter and the internet, allowing users to track the performance of their solar power system remotely. The logger communicates with the inverter to collect operational data and then uses a WiFi connection to send this data to a server, which can be accessed through the SOLARMAN Smart app or a web portal. The device features LED indicators to provide real-time status updates on its connection to the router, inverter, and server, as well as its overall operational status. It supports various inverter interfaces, including DB9, aeronautical head, and USB, ensuring compatibility with a range of inverter models. The monitoring platform, SOLARMAN Smart, enables users to register their device, create a plant profile, configure network settings, and view plant data, including production power, yield, and system status.

Important Technical Specifications

The manual does not explicitly list detailed technical specifications such as operating voltage, current consumption, or WiFi standards (e.g., 802.11 b/g/n). However, it implies the following:

  • Connectivity: WiFi (2.4G network only; 5G is not supported).
  • Inverter Interfaces: DB9, aeronautical head, and USB.
  • Monitoring Platform: SOLARMAN Smart app (Android/iOS) and web portal (https://home.solarmanpv.com).
  • LED Indicators:
    • NET (Communicate with router):
      • Off: Connection to router failed.
      • On 1s/Off 1s (Slow flash): Connection to router succeeded.
      • On 100ms/Off 100ms (Fast flash): Quick network distribution.
    • COM (Communicate with inverter):
      • On: Logger connected to inverter.
      • Off: Connection to inverter failed.
      • On 1s/Off 1s (Slow flash): Communicating with inverter.
    • READY (Logger running status):
      • Off: Logger runs abnormally.
      • On 1s/Off 1s (Slow flash): Logger runs normally.
      • On 100ms/Off 100ms (Fast flash): Restore factory setting.
  • Normal Operation Status (after power-on):
    • NET light keeps on (successful connection with server).
    • READY light flashes (normal operation).
    • COM light keeps on (successful connection with inverter).

Usage Features

  • Easy Installation: The logger supports three common inverter interfaces (DB9, aeronautical head, and USB) with straightforward installation steps, involving fixing the logger to the inverter and tightening screws or caps.
  • Real-time Status Monitoring: LED indicators provide immediate visual feedback on the device's operational status, including network connectivity, inverter communication, and overall system health.
  • Troubleshooting Guide: A comprehensive table helps users diagnose abnormal statuses based on LED indicator patterns, offering solutions for common issues like connection problems, network signal weakness, and power supply abnormalities.
  • Remote Monitoring: Through the SOLARMAN Smart app or web portal, users can remotely monitor their plant's performance, view historical data, and receive alerts.
  • User-Friendly App Interface: The SOLARMAN Smart app guides users through registration, plant creation, and network configuration with clear steps and visual aids.
  • Factory Reset Option: The READY LED indicator's fast flash (On 100ms/Off 100ms) signifies the option to restore factory settings, useful for troubleshooting or reconfiguring the device.
  • Bluetooth Configuration: The network configuration process utilizes Bluetooth to facilitate initial setup, requiring Bluetooth to be enabled on the user's phone.

Maintenance Features

  • Self-Diagnosis through LED Indicators: The LED indicators are crucial for initial troubleshooting. By observing the patterns of the NET, COM, and READY lights, users can identify the root cause of many operational issues without needing specialized tools.
  • Troubleshooting Table: The manual provides a detailed "Abnormal Status Processing" table that maps specific LED indicator combinations to potential fault causes and offers corresponding solutions. This empowers users to perform basic maintenance and resolve common problems independently.
  • Connection Checks: Many troubleshooting steps involve checking physical connections between the stick logger and the inverter, as well as ensuring the inverter's communication rate matches the logger's. This highlights the importance of secure and correct physical installation.
  • Network Configuration Verification: The guide emphasizes checking router settings and WiFi signal strength as part of maintenance, especially when the NET indicator shows connection issues.
  • Customer Support: For issues that cannot be resolved using the provided troubleshooting guide, the manual directs users to contact customer support, requesting specific information like product model and serial numbers of both the logger and the inverter to facilitate efficient assistance.
  • Warranty Card: The inclusion of a warranty card underscores the importance of retaining product information for potential repairs or replacements, indicating a structured approach to product support.
  • Firmware Updates (Implied): While not explicitly stated as a maintenance feature, devices like the LSW-5 often receive firmware updates to improve performance, add features, or fix bugs. The "Restore factory setting" option could be a precursor to or follow-up from such updates.
  • Pre-departure Check: A warning advises users to ensure the stick logger is working properly before leaving the site, emphasizing proactive maintenance and immediate action if abnormalities are detected.
