Overview

The Igenix 26 Litre Mini Oven with Hotplates, model IG7126, is a versatile kitchen appliance designed for domestic household use. It combines the functionality of a mini oven with two integrated hotplates, offering a compact solution for various cooking needs.

Function Description

The mini oven features a main oven cavity and two hotplates on top. The oven is equipped with both upper and lower heating elements, allowing for different cooking functions:

  • Grill: This function utilizes only the upper heating elements, making it suitable for grilling foods. For optimal results, preheating the oven for 15 minutes at 230°C is recommended. Food should be positioned as close as possible to the top heating element without touching it, and the door can be left slightly ajar during grilling.
  • Bake: This function uses only the lower heating elements, ideal for baking. Similar to grilling, preheating the oven for 15 minutes at 230°C is advised. The wire rack should be placed on the lowest or middle support, and food should be positioned close to the lower heating element without touching it.
  • Roast: This function activates both the upper and lower heating elements simultaneously, making it suitable for roasting. The oven can accommodate items such as a 3.6kg chicken or roasting joint. Preheating for 15 minutes at 230°C is recommended for best results.

The oven's temperature is controlled by a dedicated dial, offering a variable range from 100°C to 230°C. A power indicator light illuminates when the oven is switched on.

The two hotplates, one left and one right, provide additional cooking capabilities. Each hotplate has its own control dial, offering three power settings: level 1 for simmering or slow cooking, level 2 for shallow frying, and Max for rapid heat or boiling water. The left hotplate has a maximum output of 1000W, while the right hotplate has a 600W output. It's important to note that the oven can be operated simultaneously with only the left 1000W hotplate. Operating both hotplates simultaneously with the oven is not recommended as it could overload the home's circuit breaker. Pans placed on the hotplates should have a solid, even base and a diameter equal to or larger than the hotplate itself.

Usage Features

Before first use, it is crucial to read all instructions, ensure the oven is unplugged, and all controls are in the 'OFF' position. All wire racks, baking trays, and accessories should be washed thoroughly in hot soapy water or a dishwasher, dried, and re-assembled. After plugging in, the oven should be turned on at full heat for 15-20 minutes to eliminate any manufacturing liquids. A small amount of smoke and odor may be emitted during this initial use, which is normal and should dissipate.

The mini oven comes with several accessories:

  • Baking Tray: Used for grilling and roasting, and can also serve as a drip pan.
  • Wire Rack: Suitable for toasting, baking, and general cooking.
  • Tray Handle: Designed to safely pick up the hot wire rack and baking tray.

Safety is paramount when using the appliance. Users are warned against touching hot surfaces with bare hands and should always use insulated oven gloves when handling hot items. The appliance should never be left unattended when in use. Adequate air circulation is necessary, so at least four inches of space should be maintained around each side of the mini oven. The oven cavity should not be used for storage, and flammable materials like curtains, tea towels, or paper towels should be kept away from or off the mini oven. Only oven-safe utensils and bakeware should be used.

Maintenance Features

Regular cleaning is essential to prevent the accumulation of grease and unpleasant odors, which could otherwise lead to deterioration of the surface and potentially hazardous situations. Before cleaning, the mini oven must be turned off, unplugged from the wall socket, and allowed to cool completely. The appliance or its power supply should never be immersed in water or washed under the tap.

The wire shelf and baking tray can be removed and washed in hot soapy water. The exterior of the mini oven can be cleaned with a damp cloth or sponge. Abrasive cleaners, sharp utensils, steel wool scouring pads, or metal utensils should not be used, as they can scratch and weaken the surface. All parts should be thoroughly dried before re-assembling them inside the oven.

The oven features a continuous clean coating that self-cleans during normal operation. Any splattering that occurs during cooking and comes into contact with this coating is oxidized while the oven is in use. If desired, the walls can be wiped with a damp sponge, cloth, or nylon scouring pad and a mild detergent.
