DRT2000 and DRC2000 Series Direct-Vent Gas Fireplaces
- Do not store or use gasoline or other flammable
vapors and liquids in the vicinity of this or any
other appliance.
- WHAT TO DO IF YOU SMELL GAS
• Do not try to light any appliance.
• Do not touch any electrical switch; do not use
any phone in your building.
• Leave the building immediately.
• Immediately call your gas supplier from a neigh-
bor’s phone. Follow the gas supplier’s instruc-
tions.
• If you cannot reach your gas supplier, call the
fire department.
- Installation and service must be performed by
a qualified installer, service agency or the gas
supplier.

      First, make sure the wall switch plate is set to REMOTE. Then, check the gas supply and gas shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Finally, check or replace the backup batteries behind the wall plate to ensure the unit is receiving power.

      Check the gas supply and gas shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Inspect the control compartment for any obviously loose wiring. If necessary, call a service technician. Also, purge the gas line of air; if required, call a service technician. Replace the unit battery backup.

      Ensure the pilot flame impinges on the thermocouple. Clean and/or adjust the pilot for maximum flame impingement on the thermocouple. Also, ensure that the connection between the valve and thermocouple are tight and secure.

      Properly position the logs. If it is the initial fireplace operation, a white film may develop on the glass. Clean the glass after each use (AFTER THE GLASS HAS COMPLETELY COOLED). Open the air shutter by adjusting the air shutter adjustment lever or pushing in the rod.

      Check the gas supply and gas shutoff valves to ensure gas is reaching the fireplace. Inspect the control compartment for any loose wiring and call a service technician, if necessary. Call a service technician if the pilot flame is not engulfing the sensor or if there is an obstructed vent system.

      Check the wall switch and wires for proper connections. Jumper wire across terminals at wall switch; if the burner comes on, replace the defective wall switch. If okay, jumper wires across wall switch wires at the valve; if the burner comes on, wires are faulty or connections are bad. Check the thermopile with a millivolt meter at the thermopile terminals of the gas valve. It should read 325 millivolts minimum with the optional wall switch OFF. Replace the faulty thermopile if the reading is below the specified minimum. Check the burner orifice for blockage and remove it. When turning on the burner using a *remote switch, ensure that the standard OFF/ON switch is in the OFF position.

      Check for a spark at the electrode and pilot. If there's no spark and the electrode wire is properly connected, replace the igniter. If there is a spark, light the pilot using a match. If the pilot lights, turn it off and trigger the igniter button again. If the pilot lights, an improper gas mixture caused the bad lighting, and a longer purge period is recommended. If the pilot will not light, check the gap at the electrode and pilot; it should be 1/8” to have a strong spark. If the gap measures 1/8”, replace the pilot. Check the inlet gas pressure; it should be within the limits marked on the rating plate. Clean or replace the pilot orifice.
