Do you have a question about the IN&MOTION IN&BOX and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The IN&BOX is an airbag system detection device manufactured by IN&MOTION. It is designed to be used exclusively with compatible products that integrate the IN&MOTION airbag system. The device contains sensors and a battery, enabling it to detect falls or incidents and trigger the airbag cushion.

Function Description:

The IN&BOX serves as the core detection and triggering unit for the IN&MOTION airbag system. It continuously monitors the user's movements and environment to identify situations that require airbag deployment. The system is designed to limit injuries in defined conditions but cannot eliminate the risk of injury or death. It is crucial to use the IN&BOX only with IN&MOTION airbag systems and in applications specified in the user manual.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Operating Temperature: -20 to 55°C (-4 to 131 °F)
  • Charging Temperature: 0 to 40°C (32 to 104 °F)
  • Storage Temperature: -20 to 30°C (-4 to 86 °F)
  • Relative Humidity: 45 to 75%
  • Altitude: Use below 5000 meters (16,404 feet). Operation outside these limits may cause the system to malfunction.
  • RF Power (In&box out of airbag product):
    • Wi-Fi: 2.4GHz-2.472GHz (< 50mW)
    • Bluetooth®: 2.4GHz-2.483GHz (<10mW)
  • RF Power (In&box inserted into airbag product):
    • Bluetooth®: 2.4GHz-2.483GHz (<10mW)
  • GPS Reception Frequencies:
    • GPS: 1565.42 - 1585.42MHz
    • GNSS: 1602 - 1610 MHz
  • Electrical Characteristics (Charging):
    • Input: 5 V ⎓ 1.5 A (Direct current)
  • Battery Duration: Approximately 30 hours of continuous use, or about 1 week in normal daily commute use (around 3 hours of riding per day with automatic standby).
  • Charging Time: Approximately 3 hours for a full charge under optimal conditions.
  • Waterproofness: The In&box can be used in rainy weather if inserted into the airbag product and worn under a waterproof motorcycle jacket. It is not designed to be submerged.

Usage Features:

  • Activation: The IN&BOX must be activated via the IN&MOTION website (www.inemotion.com) before first use. This involves subscribing to a membership plan (lease or purchase) and pairing the device with a user account through the "My In&box" mobile application.
  • ON/OFF Button: A quick double press on the central button turns the In&box on or off without removing it from its housing.
  • Automatic Standby Mode: The In&box automatically enters standby mode after more than 2 minutes of immobility and reactivates with movement. It is recommended to turn off the In&box manually if not used for several consecutive days or during transportation (car, bus, airplane, train, or when not wearing the airbag system on a motorcycle).
  • Detection Modes: Three specific detection modes are available:
    • STREET mode: For use on public roads with suitable asphalt.
    • TRACK mode: For use on closed, regulated racing circuits. (In the USA and Canada, this mode requires an eligible airbag product and serial number entry during subscription).
    • ADVENTURE mode: For off-road practice on unpaved roads (wider than a path, not designed for general vehicle traffic). Users are responsible for selecting the appropriate mode for their practice to ensure optimal protection. Additional modes can be activated by subscribing to dedicated options.
  • Mobile Application ("My In&box"): Available on Google Play and App Store. It allows users to manage their account, change detection modes, and benefit from features like the Emergency Call by Liberty Rider (available in France and Belgium).
  • Wi-Fi Synchronization: The In&box can connect to a Wi-Fi access point (b/g/n with WPA/WPA2/WEP protection, 2.4 GHz network bandwidth) to download updates and synchronize anonymous user data. This is crucial for continuous improvement of the detection algorithms. Synchronization occurs automatically when the In&box is turned on and charging at a wall outlet, or when it is turned on and immobile for more than 2 minutes within Wi-Fi range.
  • LED Indicators (Lighting Code):
    • Inflator LED (In&box in airbag product):
      • Solid Green: Inflator full and connected (airbag functional).
      • Solid Red: Inflator empty or not connected (airbag not functional).
      • No Light: In&box off (airbag not functional).
    • GPS LED:
      • Solid Green: GPS active (after a few minutes outside).
      • No Light: GPS inactive (airbag functional but may not work in specific accident cases).
    • Inflator and GPS LEDs (Flashing Red): Airbag not functional (check subscription, Wi-Fi connection, or contact support).
    • Battery LED:
      • Solid Green: Battery 100% charged (In&box plugged in).
      • Solid Blue: Battery charging (In&box plugged in).
      • No Light: Battery 30-100% charged or In&box off.
      • Solid Red: Battery below 30% (approx. 8 hours remaining).
      • Flashing Red: Battery below 5% (charge immediately).
    • Blue Fixed or Flashing (Both upper LEDs): In&box synchronizing or updating. Do not press the Reset button during this state.
  • Airbag System Insertion: The In&box must be correctly inserted into the airbag shell. Arrows on the In&box (open lock) must align with markings on the shell, then slide the lock to align with the closed lock markings, ensuring no red marking is visible.
  • After-Inflation Procedure: After an airbag deployment, a specific procedure for checking and reactivating the system is available in the user manual of the airbag product and on IN&MOTION's YouTube channel/My In&box app. If damage or anomaly occurs, do not use the airbag product and contact a local reseller.

Maintenance Features:

  • Updates: Regular software updates are released to improve detection performance. Users must connect their In&box to Wi-Fi or the mobile app periodically (annually for Revolution/Classic subscriptions, monthly for Revolution monthly subscriptions) to receive updates. Failure to update will block the In&box until the next connection.
  • Battery Replacement: The Li-polymer battery must be replaced or recycled by IN&MOTION. Users should not attempt to replace it themselves to avoid damage, overheating, fire, or injury.
  • Reset Button: In case of problems, press the Reset button for 5 seconds to restart the In&box.
  • Data Processing: The IN&MOTION detection system is upgradeable, and its algorithms are continuously improved through the anonymous collection of user data. Refer to the IN&MOTION Privacy Policy for more information.

Warnings:

  • Do not use the IN&BOX with any other product or application not specified in the manual.
  • Always turn off the airbag system when using other transportation or when not wearing the airbag product.
  • The use of the airbag system should not encourage exceeding speed limits or taking additional risks.
  • Do not dismantle, open, submerge in water, expose to heat sources (including microwaves), or repair/replace parts with non-original IN&MOTION components.
  • The system's detection performance may be degraded if GPS signal is poor (e.g., in tunnels).
  • Ensure the In&box is correctly charged for proper functioning.
  • Battery disposal in fire, hot ovens, mechanical crushing, or cutting can cause explosions. High temperatures or extremely low air pressure can also lead to explosions or leakage of flammable liquids/gases.
  • The system detects abnormal movements that may result from a fall; in extreme cases, it may trigger without a fall.
  • Always deactivate the airbag system and remove the In&box before air travel.
  • The product may expose users to chemicals known to cause cancer in California (Proposition 65). Refer to www.P65Warnings.ca.gov for more information.
