This document describes the Indesit TIA 12 xx (TK) and TIAA 12 xx (TK) 2-door fridge models, providing instructions for use, technical specifications, and maintenance.
Function Description
The Indesit 2-door fridge is designed for food preservation, featuring a refrigerator compartment and a freezer compartment. It incorporates a "Pure Wind" system to maximize air circulation, improve evaporator efficiency, and quickly achieve optimal temperatures. The "Pure Wind Plus" models also include a filter with silver ions to reduce bacteria by 70% and eliminate odors, enhancing food storage. The appliance offers automatic defrosting for the refrigerator compartment, where water is channeled to the back and evaporated by compressor heat. The freezer compartment requires manual defrosting when the frost layer exceeds 5 mm.
Important Technical Specifications
The manual provides technical data for both TIA 12 (TK) and TIAA 12 (TK) models. Key specifications include:
- Energy Class: A+ for TIA 12 (TK) and A for TIAA 12 (TK).
- Annual Energy Consumption: 336 kWh/y for TIA 12 (TK) and 291 kWh/y for TIAA 12 (TK).
- Noise Level: 72 lt for TIA 12 (TK) and 70 lt for TIAA 12 (TK).
- Freezing Capacity: 241 lt for TIA 12 (TK) and 236 lt for TIAA 12 (TK).
- Electrical Connection: The appliance requires a 220-240V, 50Hz power supply and must be connected to a properly earthed socket. It is designed to comply with European Directives 2002/96/EC on Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).
- Refrigerant: The appliance uses a refrigerant that is environmentally friendly.
Usage Features
- Temperature Adjustment: The appliance features a TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to set the desired temperature. Higher settings result in colder temperatures. If the ambient temperature is high or large quantities of food are stored, continuous operation may occur, leading to excessive frost and energy consumption; adjusting the knob to lower values will initiate defrosting.
- Reversible Doors: The doors can be reversed to open from either the left or right, offering flexibility in placement. Instructions for reversing the doors are provided with detailed diagrams.
- Shelves: The refrigerator compartment includes adjustable shelves, allowing for flexible storage of various-sized containers and food items. Some models may feature shelves with grills.
- Fruit and Vegetable Bin: A dedicated bin is provided for storing fruits and vegetables, maintaining their freshness.
- Freezer Compartment: The freezer compartment is designed for freezing fresh food. It is recommended to place fresh food above the grill and in direct contact with the walls for rapid freezing. The maximum daily freezing quantity is indicated on the technical plate.
- "Super Freezer" Button: This feature enables intensive chilling to quickly reach the desired temperature for freezing. It should be switched off after 24 hours to save energy.
- Food Storage Guidelines:
- Only cold or lukewarm foods should be placed in the refrigerator.
- Cooked foods do not last longer than raw foods.
- Liquids should not be stored in open containers to prevent increased humidity and condensation.
- Do not refreeze defrosted food; it must be cooked and consumed within 24 hours.
- Glass bottles containing liquids should not be placed in the freezer as they may break.
- During freezing, the door should not be opened. In case of a power cut or malfunction, keep the freezer door closed to maintain temperature for 9-14 hours.
Maintenance Features
- Switching Off: For cleaning and maintenance, the appliance must be disconnected from the electricity supply. Setting the temperature adjustment knob to "off" is not sufficient to eliminate all electrical contact.
- Cleaning:
- External and Internal Parts: Clean with a sponge soaked in lukewarm water and bicarbonate of soda or neutral soap. Avoid solvents, abrasive products, bleach, or ammonia.
- Removable Accessories: Wash in warm water with soap or dishwashing liquid, then rinse and dry thoroughly.
- Back of Appliance: Dust can be removed using a vacuum cleaner hose on medium power. Ensure the appliance is switched off and unplugged before cleaning.
- Avoiding Mould and Odours: The appliance is made with hygienic, odour-free materials. To maintain this, food should always be covered or sealed properly. If switching off for an extended period, clean the inside and leave the doors open.
- Defrosting the Refrigerator Compartment: This is automatic. Regularly clean the discharge hole at the back to ensure water flows out easily.
- Defrosting the Freezer Compartment: Manual defrosting is required when the frost layer exceeds 5 mm.
- Set the TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT knob to the "off" position.
- Wrap frozen foods in newspaper and place them in another freezer or a cool place.
- Leave the freezer door open until the frost has melted completely. This can be expedited by placing containers of lukewarm water inside.
- Clean and dry the freezer compartment thoroughly.
- Before placing new food, wait for 2-3 hours after restarting the appliance to ensure it reaches the ideal storage conditions.
- Troubleshooting: The manual includes a section for common issues and their solutions, such as the appliance not working, making excessive noise, or food freezing in the refrigerator. If problems persist, contact Indesit Service.
- Light Bulb Replacement: Instructions are provided for replacing the refrigerator light bulb, which is typically a 15W or 25W bulb.
The manual also emphasizes the importance of proper installation, including leveling the appliance, ensuring adequate ventilation, and correct electrical connection, to ensure optimal performance and safety. It advises against using extension cords or multiple sockets.
