Usage Features:

The machine's front panel features an ON/OFF switch, with a green LED (L1) indicating power. A yellow LED (L2) signals tripped protection devices, and a red LED (L3) in MIG/MAG mode indicates 'GLOBULAR' welding, which is advised against for optimal results.

The TY4 wire feeder interface allows for various settings:

  • Process Selection: Use button T1 to select MMA or MIG/MAG welding.
  • 2T/4T/3-level Modes: A quick press of T1 cycles through 2T, 4T, and 3-level modes for MIG/MAG. A longer press changes the welding process.
    • 2-step mode: Welding starts when the torch trigger is pressed and stops when released.
    • 2-step + 3-level mode: Welding begins with pre-gas, then wire feed and power are enabled. Current and duration are set by 'ini' and 'tin'. Releasing the trigger sets current to 'CrA' for 'Cr' duration, followed by post-gas.
    • 4-step mode: Manual pre-gas starts when the trigger is pressed. Releasing it starts welding. Pressing again stops welding but gas continues to flow. Releasing again stops post-gas.
    • 3-level mode: Welding starts at 'ini' current. Releasing the trigger raises current to 'E7' value. Pressing again drops current to 'CrA' value. Releasing again stops welding.
  • Wire Type and Gas Selection: Button T2 sets the wire type and shielding gas, allowing selection of a synergic welding curve.
  • Wire Diameter: Button T3 selects the wire diameter. An extended press accesses special processes (SP1-SP4), which are optional.
  • Gas Test: Button T4 checks gas presence and flow.
  • Manual Wire Feed: Button T5 manually feeds wire, useful for spool changes. A double fast press reverses wire feed for recovery.
  • MMA Settings:
    • Welding Current: Selector E7 adjusts welding current (displayed on D4). Output voltage is shown on D3.
    • Hotstart (Hot): Percentage increase in initial current to aid arc starting.
    • Arcforce (ArC): Percentage increase in welding current during short circuits to prevent arc shutdown.
    • These parameters are adjusted via the 'SET' menu (press E6 for 2 seconds).
  • MIG/MAG Settings (Synergic):
    • Arc Height Correction/Output Inductance: Selector E6 adjusts these values.
    • Advanced Parameters (SET mode - press E6 for >2 seconds):
      • ER70S CO2 (CO2): Sets gas type for SG2/3 wire (Ar-18%CO2 or Ar-8%CO2).
      • Softstart (Sof): Slow wire feed at trigger press, reaching set speed only when arc strikes. Automatically adjusted (597) or 1-100% of set wire speed.
      • Burnback (bur): Adjusts power delay to optimize weld end, controlling wire length from torch. Automatically adjusted (597) or 1-100%.
      • Pregas (PrE): Pre-gas time (seconds).
      • Postgas (PoS): Post-gas time (seconds).
      • Start current (ini): Initial current/first level for 3-level or 2-step+3-level modes.
      • Crater current (CrA): Final current/third level for 3-level or 2-step+3-level modes.
      • Start time (tin): Initial current time/first level for 2-step+3-level modes.
      • Crater time (tCr): Final current time/third level for 2-step+3-level modes.
      • Synergy (Syn): Activates (1) or deactivates (0) synergy mode. Manual mode allows full parameter control. Not available for MIG P or MIG DP.
    • Welding Current, Wire Speed, Piece Thickness: Selector E7 adjusts these values.
  • Program Storage: Up to 100 welding recipes can be stored using selector E7.
    • Save: Rotate E6 to 'Sto', E7 to select memory location (blinking for free, steady for occupied), then E7 (2s) to confirm or E6 to cancel.
    • Load/Modify: Rotate E6 to 'Lod', E7 to select memory location (blinking if non-existent), then E7 (2s) to confirm or E6 to cancel.
    • Delete: Rotate E6 to 'DEL', E7 to select memory location, then E7 (2s) to confirm or E6 to cancel.
  • Cooling Unit: Rotate E6 to 'H2O', E7 to 'on' or 'off', then E6 to exit.
  • Factory Reset: Rotate E6 to 'FAC', E7 to 'YES', then E7 (2s) to confirm or E6 to cancel.
  • Remote Control: The machine can be controlled via optional remote controls connected to C6.

Maintenance Features:

  • Cleaning: Internal cleaning by blowing compressed air (oil and humidity-free) is permitted only after disconnecting the generator from the power supply. This should be done at least every three months, more frequently in dusty environments.
    • Disconnect the generator plug from the electrical panel.
    • Wait at least 5 minutes to avoid electric shock.
    • Open side panels by removing screws.
    • Gently blow internal parts with compressed air.
    • Replace side panels.
    • Reconnect to power.
  • Repairs: Any repair or replacement of parts must be carried out by skilled personnel qualified in electromechanical systems.
  • Fuses: Do not use fuses with higher amperage than specified in the technical data table.
  • General Rules: Always close mobile doors before welding.
  • Environmental Conditions: The machine should be used in ambient temperatures between -10°C and +40°C. For transport and storage, -25°C to +55°C. Relative humidity should not exceed 50% at 40°C or 90% at 20°C. The air must be free of conductive dust, corrosive gases, acids, or other damaging substances.
  • Lifting: Use only the 4 holes on the PR8 generator trolley base for lifting. Ensure lifting cables form a small angle with the vertical. Remove all movable parts (gas cylinder, wire feeder, torches, cables) to prevent uncontrolled falls.
  • Placement: Position the machine on a solid, stable surface adequate for its weight. Maximum inclination allowed is 10°.
