regulationsconcerning the useoflights.
If youhearawarning tone when youleave the
vehicle, the side lights maystillbeswitched on.
Turn the light switch to <AUTO>.
The exterior lighting (except the side lights/
parking lights) switches off automatically if you:
•
Remove the keyfrom the ignition switch (where fit-
ted).
•
Openthe driver’s door with the ignition switch in
the OFF position.
Automaticheadlight mode
<AUTO> is the preferred light switch setting. The
light settingisautomatically selected according
to thebrightnessofthe ambient light (excep-
tion:poor visibility due to weather conditions
suchasfog, snow or spray):
•
Ignition switch in ACCorONposition: the side
lights are switched on or off automatically depend-
ing on the brightnessofthe ambient light.
•
With the engine running: if youhave switched on
the daytime driving lights function in the vehicle
informationdisplay,the side lights and dipped
beam headlights are switched on or off automati-
callydepending on the brightnessofthe ambient
light.
To switchonautomaticheadlightmode:turn the
lightswitchto<AUTO>.
WARNING
When the lightswitchisset to <AUTO>, the dipped-
beam headlights maynot be switched on automati-
callyifthere is fog, snow or other causes of poor vis-
ibility due to the weather conditionssuchasspray.
Thereisarisk of an accident
In suchsituations, turn the light switch to
m
.
The automatic headlight feature is only an aid.
Thedriver is responsiblefor the vehicle lighting
at alltimes.
The daytime driving lights improve the detect-
abilityofyour vehicle during the day.
Whenthe side lights and dipped-beam head-
lights are switched on, the green
m
(side
lights) and
m
(dipped-beam headlights) indi-
cator lights in the combination meter light up.
Dipped-beamheadlights
When theignition is switched on and the light
switch is in the
m
position, the side lights
and dipped-beamheadlights are switched on
even if the light sensor does not sense dark am-
bient light conditions. Thisisadvantageous
when there is fogorrain.
