WARNING
•
Do not drive beyond the per formancecapability of
thetyres, even with 4WD engaged. Accelerating
quickly, sharp steering manoeuvres or sudden
braking maycause loss of control.
•
Alwaysuse tyres of the same type, size, brand,
construction (bias, bias-belted or radial), and
tread pattern on allfour wheels. Installtyre chains
on thefront wheelswhen drivingon slipperyroads
and drivecarefully.
•
Thisvehicle is not designed for off-road (rough
road) use. Do not drive on sandy or muddy roads
that tyres may getstuckin.
•
For4WD equipped vehicles,do notattempt toraise
two wheels off the ground and shift the transmis-
sion to any drive or reverse position with the en-
gine running.Doing so mayresult in drivetrain
damageorunexpected vehiclemovement which
could result in serious vehicle damageorpersonal
injury.
•
Do not attempt to test a4WD/AWD equipped ve-
hicle on a2-wheel dynamometer (suchasthe dy-
namometers used by some states for emissions
testing) or similar equipment even if the other two
wheelsare raised off the ground. Makesure that
youinform the test facility personnel that your ve-
hicle is equipped with 4WD before it is placed on a
dynamometer.Using the wrong test equipment
mayresult in drivetrain damageorunexpected ve-
hicle movementwhichcould result in serious ve-
hicle damageorpersonal injury.
•
When awheel is off the ground due to an uneven
surface,donot spin the wheel excessively.
CAUTION
Nevertow the vehicle with one axle raised. Thismay
damage the differential. Damageofthissortisnot
covered by the warranty. All wheels must be fully
raised (see “Towing Four-Wheel Drive (4WD) models”
in the “6. In case of emergency” section).
4WD, together with ESP/VDC, improves thetrac-
tionofyourvehiclewheneveradrivewheelspins
due to insufficient grip.
If youfail to adapt your driving style, 4WD can
neither reducethe risk of an accident nor over-
ride thelaws of physics.4WD cannot take ac-
countofroad, weather,and traffic conditions.
4WD is only an aid. Youare responsiblefor the
distance to the vehicle in front, for vehicle
speed, for brakingingood time, and for staying
in lane.
