Storing or calling upthe speed
WARNING
If youcallupthe stored speed and it is lower than the
current speed,the vehicle decelerates. If youdonot
knowthe stored speed, the vehicle could decelerate
unexpectedly.There is ariskofanaccident.
Payattention to the road and traffic conditionsbefore
calling up the stored speed. If youdonot know the
stored speed, store the desired speed again.

Setting aspeed
To adjust the set speed in 10 km/h increments:
•
Brieflypressthe cruise control lever up j1beyond
thepressure point for ahigher speed, or down
j2
for alower speed.
or
•
Keep the cruise control lever pressed beyond the
pressure pointuntil the desired speed is set. Press
the cruise control lever up
j1for ahigher speed or
down
j2for alower speed.

Switching the speed limiter to passive
If youdepressthe accelerator pedal beyond the
pressure point (kickdown), the speed limiter is
switched to passive mode. The following mes-
sage appears in the vehicle informationdisplay:
[Speed limitersuspended].
Youcan then exceed the stored speed, The

activated again if

•
Drive slower than the stored speed without kick-
down.
•
Setanew speed or
•
Call up the lastspeed stored again.
The [Speed limitersuspended] message in the
vehicle information display disappears.
Deactivating the variable speed
limiter
Itis notpossibletodeactivatethevariablespeed
limiterbybraking.
There are several ways to deactivate the vari-
able speed limiter:
•
Brieflypressthe cruise control lever forwards j6.
or
•
Brieflypressthe button j5onthe cruise control
lever.The LIM indicator lamp
j2inthe cruise con-
trol levergoes out. Variable speed limiter is deacti-
vated. Cruise control or intelligent cruise control is
selected.
Vehicles with manual transmission:
The speed limiter switches off if youshift to a
higher gearand as aresult, the engine speed is
too low.
NOTE
Thelastspeed stored is cleared when youswitchoff
theengine.
PERMANENT SPEED LIMITER
Youcan usethe vehicle information display to
limitthe speed permanently to avalue between
160 km/h(e.g. for driving on winter tyres) and
the maximum speed.
Shortlybefore the stored speed is reached, it
appearsinthe vehicle information display.
