The system is primarily intended for useon
straight, dry, open roads with light traffic. It is not
advisable to usethe system in city traffic or con-
gested areas.
•
Thissystem will not adapt automatically to road
conditions. Thissystem should be used in evenly
flowingtraffic.Do notusethesystemon roads with
sharp curves, or on icy roads, in heavy rain or in
fog.
•
As there is aperformancelimit to thedistancecon-
trolfunction, never rely solely on the ICCsystem.
Thissystem does not correct careless, inattentive
or absent-mindeddriving, or overcome poor vis-
ibility in rain, fog, or other bad weather.Deceler-
ate the vehiclespeed by depressing the brake
pedal, dependingonthe distancetothe vehicle
ahead and the surrounding circumstances in order
to maintain asafe distancebetween vehicles.
•
If thevehicle ahead comes to astop, the vehicle
decelerates to astandstillwithin the limitationsof
the system. Oncethe vehicle is stationary, it re-
mainsstationaryand youdonot need to depress
thebrake pedal.
•
Always pay attention to the operation of the ve-
hicle and be ready to manually control the proper
followingdistance.The ICCsystem maynotbe able
to maintain the selected distancebetween
vehicles (following distance) or selected vehicle
speedunder some circumstances.
•
Normally when controlling the distancetoave-
hicleahead, thissystem automatic allyaccelerates
or deceleratesyour vehicle according to the speed
of the vehicle ahead. Depressthe accelerator to
properlyaccelerateyourvehicle when acceleration
is required for alane change. Depressthe brake
pedal whendeceleration is required to maintain a
safe distancetothe vehicle ahead due to its sud-
den braking orifavehicle cutsin. Alwaysstayalert
when using the ICCsystem.
•
The system maynot detect the vehicle in front of
youincertain road or weather conditions. To avoid
accidents, never usethe ICCsystem under the fol-
lowing conditions:
– On roads where the traffic is heavy or
thereare sharp curves.
– On slipperyroad surfacessuchasonice
or snow,etc.
– Duringbad weather(rain,fog,snow,etc.).
– When rain, snow or dirtadhere to the sys-
tem sensor.
– On steep downhillroads (the vehicle may
go beyond the set vehicle speed and fre-
quentbraking mayresult in overheating
thebrakes).
– On repeated uphilland downhillroads.
– Whentraffic conditionsmakeitdifficult
to keep aproper distancebetween ve-
hiclesbecauseoffrequentacceleration or
deceleration.
– Interferencebyother radar sources.
•
DonotusetheICCsystem ifyouaretowingatrailer.
The system maynot detect avehicle ahead.
•
In someroad or traffic conditions, avehicle or ob-
ject canunexpectedly come into the sensor detec-
tion zone and causeautomatic braking. Youmay
need to control the distancefrom other vehicles
using the accelerator pedal. Always stay alert and
avoid using the ICCsystem when it is not recom-
mended in this section.
Thedistancesensor will not detect thefollowing
objects:
•
Stationary and slow moving vehicles.
•
Pedestriansorobjects in the roadway.
•
Oncoming vehicles in the same lane.
•
Motorcyclestravelling offset in the travel lane.
Thefollowing are some conditionsinwhichthe
sensor cannot properly detect avehicle ahead
and the system maynot operate properly:
•
When thesnow or road spray from travelling ve-
hicles reduces the sensor’s visibility.
•
When excessively heavy baggageisloaded in the
rear seat or the luggageroom of your vehicle.
