CAUTION
If unavoidable, youshould drive over obstacles such
as kerbsslowly and not at asharp angle. Otherwise,
youmay damagethe wheels or tyres.
IPAmay also display spaces not suitable for
parking, for example:
•
Parking or stopping prohibition.
•
In frontofdrivewaysorentrances and exits.
•
Unsuitable surfaces.
Parking tips:
•
On narrow roads, drive as closely as possiblepast
the parking space.
•
Parking spaces that arelittered orovergrown might
be identified or measured incorrectly.
•
Parking spaces that arepartly occupied by trailer
towing bars might not be identified as suchorbe
measured incorrectly.
•
Snowfallorheavy rain mayleadtoaparking space
being measured inaccurately.
•
Payattention to the parking sensor system warn-
ing messagesduring the parking procedure.
•
Youcan intervene in the steering procedure to cor-
rect it at any time. IPAwillthen be cancelled.
•
Whentransporting aload whichprotrudes from
your vehicle, youshould not useIPA.
•
Never useIPA when snow chainsare fitted.
•
Make sure that the tyre pressures are alwayscor-
rect.Thishas adirectinfluenceontheparkingchar-
acteristicsofthe vehicle.
Use IPAfor parking spaces that are:
•
Parallel or at right angles to the direction of travel.
•
On straightroads, not bends.
•
On the same levelas theroad, e. g. noton the pave-
ment.
Forvehicles withthetowbarfolded out, the mini-
mumlengthforparkingspacesis slightlylonger.
If youhave attached atrailer to your vehicle, you
maynot useIPA.Oncethe electrical connection
is established between your vehicle and the
trailer, IPAisnolonger available. The parking
sensor system is deactivated for the rear area
DETECTING PARKING SPACES
Objects located above the height rangeofIPA
will not be detected when the parking spaceis
measured. These are not takeninto account
when the parking procedure is calculated, e. g.
overhanging loads, tail sectionsorloading
ram
ps
of

hicles.
WARNING
Ifthere areobjects abovethe detectionrange,IPAmay
steer too early.Thiscould causeacollision. There is a
risk of an accident.
If objects are located above the detection range, stop
and switch off the IPA.

IPAdoesnotassist youparking inspacesatright
angles to thedirection of travel if:
•
Twoparking spaces arelocated directly next to one
another.
•
The parking spaceisdirectly next to alow obstacle
suchasalowkerb.
•
Youforward park.
IPAdoesnot assist youparkinginspacesthat
are parallel oratright angles to the direction of
travel if:
•
The parking spaceisonakerb.
•
The systemreads the parking spaceasbeing
blocked, forexample,byfoliage or grass paving
blocks.
•
The areaistoo smallfor the vehicle to manoeuvre
into.
•
The parking spaceisbordered by an obstacle, e.g.
atree, apost or atrailer.
