1. Take the emergency keyelement out of the
key(see
“Emergencykey element” in the “3. Pre-
driving checks and adjustments” section
)
2. Pressemergency keyelement

opening into the keyinthe direction of the
arrowuntil thebatterycover

1opens.When
doing so,donot hold cover
j
1shut.
3. Remove batterytraycover
j
1.
4. Repeatedly tapthe keyagainstyour palm un-
til battery
j
1falls out.
CAUTION
Always hold the batterybytheedges. Holding the bat-
teryacrossthe contact points will seriously deplete
the storagecapacity.
5. Insert the new batterywith the positive ter-
minal facing upwards. Usealint-free cloth to
do so.
6. Makesure that the surface of thebatteryis
free of lint, greaseand other contamination.
7. Insertthe front tabs of batterycover
j
1and
then presstoclose it.
8. Insertemergency keyelement into the key
(see
“Emergencykey element” in the “3. Pre-driv-
ing checks and adjustments” section
).
9. Checkthe function of allkey buttonsonthe
vehicle.
