Infants and smallchildren should never be carried
on your lap. It is not possiblefor even the stron-
gest adult to resistthe forces of asevere accident.
Thechild could be crushed between the adult and
parts of thevehicle. Also, do not put the same seat
beltaround both your child and yourself.

INFINITI recommends that the booster seat be in-
stalled in the rear seat. According to accident sta-
tistics,childrenaresafer when properlyrestrained
in therearseatthaninthe front seat. If youmust
install abooster seat in thefront seat, see
“Booster seat installation” later in thissection
.

Abooster seat must only be installedinaseating
position that has alap/shoulder belt. Failure to
use athree-point typeseatbelt with abooster seat
ca
nresult in aserious injuryinsudden stop or col-
lision.

Improper useorimproper installation of abooster
seat canincreasethe risk or severity of injuryfor
both thechildand other occupants of the vehicle
andcan lead to seriousinjuryordeath in an acci-
dent.
•
Do not use towels, books, pillows or other items in
placeofabooster seat.Items suchasthese may
move during normal driving or acollision and re-
sult in serious injuryordeath. Booster seats are
designed to be used with alap/shoulder belt.
Boosterseats are designed to properly route the
lapand shoulder portionsofthe seat belt over the
strongest portionsofachild’s body to provide the
maximum protection during acollision.

Follow allofthe booster seat manufacturer’s in-
structionsfor installation and use. When purchas-
ing abooster seat, be sure to select one whichwill
fit your child and vehicle. It maynot be possibleto
properlyinstallsome typesofboosterseatsinyour
vehicle.

If the booster seat and seat belt is not used prop-
erly,the risk of achild being injured in acollision
or asudden stop greatly increases.
•
Adjustableseatbacks should be positioned to fit
the booster seat,but as upright as possible.
•
Afterplacing the child in the booster seat and fas-
tening theseatbelt, make sure the shoulder por-
tion of the belt is away from the child’s face and
neckand the lapportion of the belt does not cross
theabdomen.
•
Do notput the shoulder belt behind the child or
under the child’s arm. If youmust installabooster
seat in the front seat, see “Booster seat installa-
tion on front passenger seat” later in thissection.

When your booster seat is not in use, keep it se-
curedwith aseatbelt to prevent it from being
thrownaroundincaseofasudden stoporacci-
dent.
CAUTION
Remember that abooster seat left in aclosed vehicle
canbecome veryhot. Checkthe seating surfaceand
buckles before placing your child in the booster seat.
