Rearfacing:
Ifyou must installachild restraint system in the
front seat, follow these steps:
1. Ensure that the front passenger air bag is de-
activated.The vehicleis equipped with an au-
tomatic front-passenger front air bag deacti-
vation system. The PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF
indicator lamp

must be lit. Turn the igni-
tion switch to the ON position and make sure
that the front air bag status light
m
illumi-
nates.
2. Move the seat to the rearmost position.
3. Adjust the head restrainttoits highest posi-
tion.Remove it if it interferes with the child
restraintinstallation. In suchsituations, se-
curely store the head restraint in the luggage
compartment so that it does not become a
dangerousprojectile during asudden stop or
in an accident.
4. Position the child restraint system inthe
frontpassenger seat.
Alwaysfollow the child restraint system
manufacturer’s instructionsfor installation
and use.
5. Route the seat belt tongue through the child
restraintsystem and insertitinto the buckle
until youhearand feel the latchengage.
To prevent slackinthe lapbelt, secure the
shoulder belt in placewith alocking clip

dimensionsand strength.
Be sure to follow the child restraint system

nufacturer’s instruction

or belt routing.

Slide the seat for
wa
rds so that the seat belt
fullytightensthe child restraint system and
the child restraint reaches the vehicle dash-
board.
7. Test the child restraint system before you
placethe child in it. Checkthatitdoes not tilt
too farfrom side to side. Trytotug it forwards
and checkifitisheld securely in place.

WARNING
If abooster seat and seat belt are not used properly,
the risk of achild being injured or killed in asudden
stop or collision greatly increases:
Infantsandsmallchildrenshouldalwaysbeplaced
in an appropriate child restraint while riding in the
vehicle. Failure to useachild restraint or booster
seat canresult in serious injuryordeath.
