Why is my Ingersoll-Rand 1720B Power Tool losing power?
- JJohn HuberAug 11, 2025
Your Ingersoll-Rand Power Tool might be losing power due to several reasons. The air screen or exhaust silencer could be dirty, which can be resolved by cleaning them with a suitable cleaning solution. Alternatively, worn or broken vanes might be the cause, requiring a replacement of the complete set of vanes. Also, check for worn or broken cylinders or scored end plates, replacing them if necessary. Dirty motor parts can also cause low power. To fix this, disassemble the tool and clean it with a suitable solution, then reassemble and lubricate it by injecting 3 cc of the recommended oil into the inlet. Finally, ensure the reverse valve is fully engaged to the left or right.
