Problem Cause Remedy
The sound suddenly
goes off.
The protection circuitry has been acti-
vated because of a short circuit, etc.
The sleep timer has turned the unit off.
Only the speaker
on one side can be
heard.
Check that the speaker wires are not touching
each other and then turn this unit back on.
Turn on the power, and play the source again.
The sound is muted. Press MUTE to cancel a mute.
Incorrect cable connections.
Connect the cables properly. If the problem
persists. the cables may be defective.
When playing a monaural source with
a pro-logic II mode the source
signal is directed to the center
channel, and the front and surround
speakers output effect sounds.

The sound field programs are turned
off.
Select "6 stereo", another DSP mode or
appropriate listen mode.
You are using a source or program
combination that does not output
sound from all channels.
Try another sound field program.
Only the center
speaker outputs
substantial sound.
No sound from the
effect speakers.
The output level of the center speaker
is set to minimum.
"CENTER"in "Speaker Setting" is set
to NONE.
Raise the level of the center speaker.
Select the appropriate setting for the center
speaker.
No sound from the
center speakers.
2ch Stereo has been selected. Select "6 stereo", another DSP mode or
appropriate listen mode.
The output level of the surround
speakers is set to minimum.
Raise the output level of the surround speakers.
"SURR LR"in "Speaker Setting" is set
to NONE.
Select the appropriate setting for the surround
left and right speakers.
A monaural source is being played
with "2 STEREO".
Press "DSP" or "2/6STEREO"to turn on the
sound fields or select "6 CH STEREO"mode.
No sound from the
surround
speakers.
No sound from the
surround center
speaker.
"Surround center" in "Speaker Setting"
is set to NONE.
Select the appropriate setting for the surround
center speaker.
Select "6 stereo"or another appropriate listen
mode.
NO sound from the
subwoofer.
"SW" in "Speaker Setting" is set to
"NONE" when a Dolby Digital or DTS
or other source signal is being played.
Select "SW" is "YES".
The source does not contain low bass
signals.
The source or the listen selected mode
does not contain surround center
signals.
