If you disconnect power from the drive but leave the power supply plugged in, the power draw is less than 2 watts
(less than half the power needed for a night light). The easiest way to power down completely is to plug the power
supply into the power strip with the computer. Then use the power strip switch to power down both the computer
and the Zip drive. Before disconnecting the Zip drive, eject disks from the Zip drive.
Mac OS Users:
1.Ensure all files or programs are closed.
2.Select the Zip drive (or disk) icon and use the:
Put Away command in Mac OS 8.6 through 9.x, or
The Eject command in Mac OS X version 10.1 or higher from the File Menu, or
Drag the Zip drive (or disk) icon onto the Trash icon, or
In Mac OS X you can Control Click the desktop icon and select Eject.
3.You can then safely disconnect the drive.
Windows PC Users:
Use the Device Stop Utility before you disconnect the drive, power, or the USB or FireWire cable.
1.Ensure all files or programs are closed.
2.Double click the Unplug or Eject Hardware icon on the taskbar.
3.Select the Zip drive (or disk) icon and click OK.
4.You can then safely disconnect the drive.
