Why does my Ironton 66717 fail to split logs?
    • S
      Sarah PrestonAug 4, 2025
Your Ironton Log Splitter might fail to split logs because the log isn't positioned correctly; refer to the log loading section for guidance. Alternatively, the log's size or hardness might exceed the machine's capacity, in which case you should reduce the log size. Also, a blunt wedge cutting edge can be the issue; sharpen it with a fine-toothed file, smoothing any burrs or crushed areas. If oil is leaking, locate the leak(s) and find a technician to repair. Adjustments to the maximum pressure limiting screw resulting in a lower pressure setting can also cause this; contact a technician in this case.

What to do if oil leaks from my Ironton 66717 Log Splitter?
    • C
      Chad TerryAug 14, 2025
If you notice oil leaks around the cylinder ram or other points on your Ironton Log Splitter, it could be due to air sealed in the hydraulic system during operation. To resolve this, loosen the bleed screw 3-4 rotations before operating the log splitter. Ensure you tighten the bleed screw before moving the log splitter. Also, check if the oil drain bolt with dipstick is not tight and tighten it. A worn hydraulic control valve assembly and/or seal can also cause leaks, in which case you should contact a technician.

How to fix jerky log pusher movement with noises on my Ironton 66717 Log Splitter?
    • I
      Isaac HarrisAug 25, 2025
If the log pusher on your Ironton Log Splitter moves jerkily, accompanied by unfamiliar noises and vibration, it may be due to a lack of hydraulic oil and excessive air in the hydraulic system. Check the oil level and fill if necessary. You may also need to contact a technician.
