  The auto-darkening filter might not be darkening or could be flickering due to several reasons. First, check if the darkening lens filter is turned on. If it is, the welding current may be too low, so increase the sensitivity level. Also, a soiled or damaged front cover lens or soiled sensors can cause this issue; replace the cover lens or clean the sensor surface. Finally, the battery might be in poor condition, so verify it’s installed properly and clean the battery surfaces and contacts.

Insufficient ambient light can also cause this, so increase the ambient light. Finally, check if the shade number is incorrectly set and reset it.
