CONTROLS AND INSTRUMENTS
CAUTION
Firmly engage the parking brake when you sit in the driver's seat before starting
the engine. Also, be sure to start the engine while pressing the clutch pedal
and after making sure that the gearshift lever is in the "N" position.
If you lean through the window from outside of the vehicle to start the engine,
the vehicle may start moving if the gearshift lever is in any position other
position than "N". This is very dangerous. Never start the engine that way.
When the engine does not start, wait for at least 2 seconds and then turn the
starter switch again.

1. Fully press the clutch pedal.
ADVICE
Do not step on the accelerator pedal before starting. When the accelerator
pedal is pressed before the starter switch is turned on, the "START FUEL
ENRICH SYSTEM" may not function correctly. Accordingly, starting becomes
substantially more difficult.

2. When the starter switch is turned to
the "ON" position, (if your vehicle is so
equipped) the glow plug indicator light
comes on and it goes out in about 0.5
seconds when the engine is warm, or
in about 4 seconds when the engine
is cold.
