Do not use a mattress made of hard material such as expanded polystyrene – it may result
in the failure of the device (such materials are extremely sensitive to air movements).
Please be aware that the device can only warn you in the case of an emergency. If the
baby has a medical problem, it is up to you or a doctor to help.
Manufacturer provides warranty for the product itself. The warranty is not valid for batteries
and manufacturer is not responsible if the product is not used according to this manual.
The manufacturer does not recommend buying or renting a second hand product. In case
of careless manipulation the sensitivity of the sensor can decrease with all consequences.
The manufacturer has no responsibility for events that can happen in that case.
Battery replacement
If the batteries are low, the red indicator will flash and there will be no beep sound after
it is tuned on. In this case replace the batteries. Use only 2 new size AA alkaline batteries
(orientation is clearly marked in the battery compartment). Switch the Nanny on after battery
replacement and you should hear a beep sound. If there is no beep, check the batteries. Do not
use rechargeable accumulators.
Maintenance and cleaning
The Nanny does not require any regular maintenance. Regular testing of the device is
recommended (once a week).
Use a soft wet cloth to clean the device when necessary (no aggressive cleaning agent
should be used). Avoid water or any other liquid getting inside the control unit or inside the

BM-02 “Nanny“ Baby Monitor
Congratulations to you and your newborn baby and to your wisdom in
purchasing the ”Nanny”. Not only will your child be sleeping peacefully!
Description
The BM-02 „Nanny“ continuously checks your baby’s breathing and movements
to confirm the absence of a possible danger. The Nanny triggers an acoustic and
visual alarm if breathing stops for longer than 20 seconds or if the rate of breathing
is bellow 8 breaths per minute. This allows for Apnea (Sudden Infant Death
Syndrome) and other life threatening conditions to be indicated in time to save the
child.
The BM-02 sensor pad, positioned under the bed’s mattress, detects the gentle
movements of an infant’s chest. Signals from the sensor go to the control unit, which
confirms regular breathing or movements. The device has no physical contact with
the baby and it also does not generate any form of energy. So it cannot have any
harmful effect to the human body.

Overview

The BM-02 "Nanny" Baby Monitor is a device designed to continuously monitor a baby's breathing and movements to detect potential dangers such as Apnea (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) and other life-threatening conditions. It triggers an acoustic and visual alarm if breathing stops for longer than 20 seconds or if the breathing rate falls below 8 breaths per minute, allowing for timely intervention.

Function Description:

The device consists of a sensor pad and a control unit. The sensor pad, placed under the bed's mattress, detects the gentle movements of an infant's chest. These signals are transmitted to the control unit, which confirms regular breathing or movements. The Nanny operates without physical contact with the baby and does not generate any form of energy, ensuring no harmful effects on the human body.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Power: 3 V, using 2x 1.5 V size AA alkaline batteries.

  • Sensor pad (model BM-02D): Max. size 350 x 550 x 15 mm, weight 1500 g, made of PVC-P.
  • Control unit: Max. size 135 x 70 x 35 mm, weight 150 g, made of ABS.
  • Working environment: +5°C to +35°C, relative humidity 30% to 75%.
  • Storage environment: 0°C to +40°C, relative humidity 10% to 85%.
  • Lifetime of the product: 2 years.
  • Contents: Sensor pad, control unit, extension cable, splitting connector, and plastic wall mount holder.
  • Conformity: Assessed by Notified Body No.1014 and registered by the Ministry of Health Care of the Czech Republic. Complies with Directive 1993/42/EC.

Usage Features:

  • Installation:
    • The sensor pad should be placed on the bed bottom, centered approximately where the baby's chest will be.
    • It must be on a smooth, solid surface and should not be bent. If the bed has a spring grid, a solid board (wood, plywood, etc.) should be placed between the pad and the grid.
    • For multiple beds, extra sensor pads (BM-02D) can be used, with the control unit moved between beds.
    • Up to two sensor pads can be used in one bed with a single control unit if the child is large.
    • For twins, each baby must have its own bed and a separate device installed in each bed. Beds cannot touch, and children cannot share one bed or one unit with separate sensor pads connected via a splitter, as this can endanger a baby's life.
  • Battery Connection:
    • Use only 2 new size AA alkaline batteries, observing polarity.
    • After closing the battery cover and turning the switch to 'I', the indicators will flash, and a beep will sound if batteries are OK.
    • If no beep after turning on, check the batteries.
  • Control Unit Attachment:
    • The control unit should be visible and not covered.
    • For older children, it is recommended to place the unit out of their reach.
    • A wall mount holder can be used to attach the control unit to the wall.
  • Sensor Cable Connection:
    • Connect the sensor cable to the unit until a click is heard.
    • Route the cable to avoid slack or loops, especially for older children.
    • If the entire cable length is not used, fix the excess firmly under the mattress.
    • An extension cable (5m) is provided for placing the control unit in another room; only one extension cable can be used.
    • A cable splitter is provided for using two sensor pads in one bed.
    • To disconnect the cable, press the connector tab towards the cable.
  • Operation:
    • Place the baby in bed.
    • Turn on the unit (confirmed by a beep and a flash of all LED indicators).
    • The green LED indicator will flash as the baby breathes or moves.
    • Turn off the unit before taking the baby out of the bed.
  • Alarm:
    • If an alarm sounds (due to no breathing for 20 seconds or slow breath rate), the red indicator will flash.
    • Check the baby and provide first aid if necessary. The alarm sound itself may wake the baby in some cases of Apnea.
    • The alarm can be stopped by switching the unit off.
    • Rare false alarms may occur if the child crawls off the sensor pad.
  • Testing (recommended weekly):
    • With the baby in bed and the unit ON, the green indicator should flash.
    • Take the baby out of bed, leaving the unit ON. The green indicator may continue to blink for a short time due to bed vibrations. Do not touch the bed.
    • After 20 seconds of no flashing, the unit will make warning beeps and then the alarm sound. The red indicator will flash.
    • Stop the alarm by turning the switch OFF.
    • If the device does not work as described (no beep on startup, green indicator stops flashing within a minute after baby removal), check batteries and intrusive vibrations.
  • Important Warning: The Nanny is highly sensitive. Intrusive vibrations from the bed, floor, or building can affect performance. The bed should not be in physical contact with another bed or any vibrating device. Powerful air movement (fan, air-conditioning), walking near the bed, or other sources can also cause intrusive vibrations. Test the Nanny if the bed is moved to a new location.

Maintenance Features:

  • Regular Maintenance: The Nanny does not require regular maintenance, but regular testing (once a week) is recommended.
  • Cleaning: Use a soft, wet cloth to clean the device when necessary. Do not use aggressive cleaning agents. Avoid water or any other liquid entering the control unit or sensor pad.
  • Protection: Protect the sensor pad from physical damage (impacts, falls, bending, etc.).
  • Battery Replacement: When batteries are low, the red indicator will flash, and there will be no beep after tuning on. Replace with 2 new size AA alkaline batteries. Do not use rechargeable accumulators.
  • Disposal: Dispose of batteries safely according to local regulations. Although the product does not contain harmful materials, it is suggested to return the product to the dealer or producer after usage.
  • Warranty: Manufacturer provides warranty for the product itself. The warranty is not valid for batteries, and the manufacturer is not responsible if the product is not used according to the manual.
  • Second-hand products: The manufacturer does not recommend buying or renting a second-hand product. Careless manipulation can decrease sensor sensitivity, and the manufacturer takes no responsibility for events that may occur in such cases.
  • Medical Disclaimer: The device only warns in case of emergency. If the baby has a medical problem, consult a doctor.
  • Mattress Type: Do not use a mattress made of hard material such as expanded polystyrene, as this may lead to device failure due to sensitivity to air movements.
