Overview

The Jandy Pro Series WaterColors RGBW LED Lights are underwater lighting fixtures designed for swimming pools and spas. These lights are available in both large and small sizes, offering a range of color options and control methods. The RGBW (Red, Green, Blue, White) LED technology allows for a broad spectrum of colors, including various shades of white, blue, green, magenta, and violet, as well as dynamic color splash modes.

Function Description:

The primary function of the Jandy WaterColors RGBW LED Lights is to illuminate pools and spas with vibrant, customizable colors. Users can operate the lights and change colors by turning the light OFF and ON within three seconds to cycle through predefined color modes. If the light is turned OFF for more than seven seconds, it will retain the last active color setting when turned back ON. The color sequence starts with Alpine White and includes Sky Blue, Cobalt Blue, Caribbean Blue, Spring Green, Emerald Green, Emerald Rose, Magenta, Violet, Slow Color Splash, Fast Color Splash, America the Beautiful, Fat Tuesday, and Disco Tech.

The lights can be controlled through various wiring options:

  • AquaLink® RS Control System: This system provides simplified operation and synchronization of color changes. It is recommended to connect one light per auxiliary relay in the Power Center for individual control, though up to four lights can be connected to a single relay.
  • Time Clock: The lights can be wired to a basic time clock for automatic ON/OFF operation at predesignated times.
  • Switch: Manual ON/OFF control is possible by wiring the lights to a switch. For multiple lights, separate switches can be used for individual control, or all lights can be synchronized by operating their switches simultaneously.

Important Technical Specifications:

The Jandy WaterColors RGBW LED Lights are available in both 12-volt AC and 120-volt AC versions.

    • 12V AC Models: Draw 4.0 Amps. Cord lengths include 30 ft (9.14 m), 50 ft (15.24 m), 100 ft (30.48 m), 150 ft (45.72 m), and 250 ft (76.2 m). Face ring materials include Stainless Steel and Plastic.
    • 120V AC Models: Draw 0.4 Amps. Cord lengths include 30 ft (9.14 m), 50 ft (15.24 m), 100 ft (30.48 m), 150 ft (45.72 m), and 250 ft (76.2 m). Face ring materials include Stainless Steel and Plastic.
  • Small Lights (CSLVRGBW/CSHVRGBW series):

    • 120V AC Models: Draw 0.2 Amps. Cord lengths include 30 ft (9.14 m), 50 ft (15.24 m), 100 ft (30.48 m), 150 ft (45.72 m), and 250 ft (76.2 m). Face ring materials include Stainless Steel and Plastic.

Light Driver (PCB) Part Numbers:

  • WaterColors RGBW LED Large Light (12V AC): R0739500
  • WaterColors RGBW LED Large Light (120V AC): R0739400
  • WaterColors RGBW LED Small Light (12V AC): R0785700
  • WaterColors RGBW LED Small Light (120V AC): R0739600

Usage Features:

  • Color Customization: Users can easily cycle through 14 distinct color modes, including static colors and dynamic splashes, by toggling the light switch.
  • Memory Function: The light retains the last active color setting if turned OFF for more than seven seconds, allowing for consistent lighting.
  • Synchronization: Multiple lights can be synchronized to display the same color mode, especially when controlled by a single switch or an AquaLink® RS system.
  • Installation Flexibility: The lights are designed for installation in both new construction and existing pools/spas, provided the electrical system meets National Electrical Code® (NEC) and local requirements.
  • Safety: The lights must be installed by a licensed electrician in approved wet niches, with specific requirements for junction box placement (at least 8 inches above water level, 4 inches above ground level, and 4 feet from the pool edge) and proper electrical bonding and grounding. A Ground Fault Circuit Interrupter (GFCI) is required for 120-volt models.

Maintenance Features:

  • LED Board and Driver Replacement: The light engine (PCB) and driver board are field-replaceable components. This allows for repair without needing to replace the entire light housing.
  • Gasket Replacement: A new lens silicone gasket must be installed every time the light is disassembled to ensure a watertight seal and prevent electrical hazards.
  • Pilot Screw: A special pilot screw is provided for secure mounting and electrical grounding of the housing to the mounting ring and wet niche. Using the correct screw is crucial for safety.
  • Underwater Servicing: The design allows for the light assembly to be removed from the niche and placed on the deck for servicing without draining the pool, thanks to a 4-foot coil of cord left at the base of the niche during installation.
  • Thermal Grease: When replacing the light driver board, thermal grease must be applied to the back of the new board to ensure proper heat dissipation.

Safety Warnings:

  • Electrical Shock/Electrocution Risk: Improper installation or servicing can lead to severe injury or death. Always disconnect power at the circuit breaker before working on the light.
  • Submersion Requirement: Never operate the underwater light for more than 10 seconds unless it is fully submerged in water. Operating it dry can cause extreme heat, leading to burns, bulb/lens breakage, property damage, or injury.
  • Professional Installation: Installation and servicing must be performed by a licensed and qualified contractor or electrician in accordance with all applicable codes and ordinances.
  • Low-Voltage Power Supply: For low-voltage lights, only an isolating low-voltage power supply, evaluated and listed by a Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory (NRTL) for swimming pool use, should be used.
  • No Dimmers: Jandy Pro Series WaterColors RGBW LED Lights are not compatible with light dimmers and should not be wired to dimming circuitry.
