Do you have a question about the janitza 800 Series and is the answer not in the manual?

Overview

The 800-CT24 current measuring module is an expansion module designed for use with Janitza's 800 series basic devices, specifically the UMG 801 (from FW 1.5.0) which supports 10 slots, with the 800-CT24 module occupying 3 slots. This module extends the functional range of the basic device by providing 24 current measuring channels. It is suitable for low-power current transformers (LP current transformers) with a secondary voltage range of 0 to 333 mV and does not measure DC currents. The module features an input and output (RJ45) for integration into a JanBus topology with a basic device, requiring at least one 800-CON-RJ45 transfer module for this purpose. It is crucial to note that the interfaces of the transfer module are proprietary RJ45 JanBus interfaces and should not be connected to RJ45 Ethernet interfaces.

Function Description:

The 800-CT24 module enables current measurement exclusively through LP current transformers. Both the LP current transformer and the primary measuring line require basic insulation in accordance with IEC 61010-1; alternatively, a double-insulated LP current transformer can be used. The module integrates into a combined JanBus topology, allowing the basic device to measure current via the connected LP current transformers. The basic device automatically recognizes the module during power-up. For optimal performance, it is important not to extend the connecting cables of the LP current transformers at the current measurement inputs, as this can influence measurement results. The maximum bus length of the JanBus topology must also be observed.

Usage Features:

The 800-CT24 module is designed for industrial use as an expansion module in switchboard cabinets and small distribution boards. It must only be mounted with basic devices that are disconnected from the power supply. The module's operation, configuration, and reading of measured values can be managed through several options:

  • Basic Device Display and Buttons: The basic device provides a user interface for direct interaction.
  • GridVis® Software: This network analysis and programming software offers comprehensive tools for configuration, graphical display of measured values, report functions, and online help/tutorials. It supports automatic module recognition, addition, removal, and configuration swaps within the module topology.
  • Device Homepage: The basic device's web server allows for analysis and configuration of essential measurement device and module parameters.
  • Human Machine Interface (HMI): If integrated into the project (e.g., a web panel like JPC-100), an HMI can be used to manage, monitor, and configure modules.

Module identification and diagnostics can be performed on the basic device. This involves checking communication between the basic device and the module, identifying individual or all connected modules via LED blink intervals, and viewing system information such as module type, serial number, position, hardware, and software versions. LP current transformer ratios can be configured via the basic device's user interface, the GridVis® software, or the device homepage.

Maintenance Features:

  • Incoming Goods Inspection: Before assembly, a visual inspection for mechanical condition and completeness of delivery is recommended.
  • Defective Device/Disposal: Defective devices, modules, or components should be returned to Janitza electronics GmbH in accordance with shipping instructions. Users are advised not to open or repair the device themselves, as this voids the warranty. Disposal should follow national regulations, separating electronic waste, batteries, plastics, and metals.
  • Module Replacement: In case of a defective module, it can be replaced with an intact one using the GridVis® software's "Module exchange" function, which transfers data from the old module to the new one.
  • Repair: Repairs can only be carried out by the manufacturer.
  • Service: For questions not covered in the manual, contact Janitza support, providing device designation, serial number, hardware/software version, measured voltage/supply voltage, and error description.
  • Device Adjustment: Devices are factory-adjusted and do not require readjustment under normal environmental conditions.
  • Calibration Interval: A recalibration is recommended after approximately 5 years, to be performed by the manufacturer or an accredited laboratory.
  • Firmware Update: Firmware updates for the basic device and modules can be performed via the device homepage or using the Firmware Update Assistant in the GridVis® software.
  • Reset to Factory Settings: This function is performed via the basic device.
  • Saving Measured Values and Configuration Data: The basic device stores min./max./average values and energy values every 5 minutes and saves configuration data immediately.

Safety information emphasizes the importance of electrically qualified personnel for installation and maintenance, adherence to safety regulations, and proper handling of current transformers to prevent injury or damage.
