1. GENERAL
The Japa 71 grit spreader is a manually operated model. This product has
been developed for making the sanding or gritting of yards, pavements and
roads easier. Sand or grit is spread when the spreader is pushed in the
forward direction, no spreading takes place when the spreader is pulled in
reverse.

3. ASSEMBLY
The Japa 71 grit spreader is fully assembled at the factory. For ease of
transportation, the wheels and the handle may have been removed. Remount
them as follows: place the wheel (4) onto the shaft (3) with the tyre valve
facing inward. Next insert the ratchet (6) and install the torsion spring (5).
Check the direction of rotation of the wheels when installing the ratchet (6).
Both ratchets should engage the wheels, turning the shaft, when the spreader
is moved in the forward direction, and disengage when moved in reverse.
Tighten the nut (7) so that the ratchet engages easily. Install the handle (13)
using the nuts and bolts provided. It is easiest to insert the lower bolts first.
