Overview

The JBL Tune 660NC is a pair of wireless, noise-cancelling headphones designed for personal audio enjoyment and communication. These headphones offer a range of features aimed at providing a convenient and high-quality listening experience, whether at home, commuting, or on the go.

Function Description:

The primary function of the JBL Tune 660NC headphones is to deliver audio wirelessly via Bluetooth connectivity. They are equipped with Active Noise Cancelling (ANC) technology, which helps to reduce ambient noise, allowing users to focus on their music or calls. The headphones also support wired audio playback via an AUX cable, which can be useful when battery power is low or for connecting to non-Bluetooth devices. Integrated controls on the earcup allow for easy management of music playback, volume, calls, and voice assistant activation. The built-in microphone enables hands-free calling and interaction with voice assistants.

Usage Features:

Power On & Connect:

To power on the JBL Tune 660NC, press and hold the power button for more than 2 seconds. Upon powering on, the headphones automatically enter pairing mode. This allows for quick and seamless connection to a new device. For Android 6.0+ devices, the headphones support Fast Pair, which simplifies the pairing process. When Fast Pair is enabled, a notification will appear on the Android device, prompting the user to tap and pair. Once paired, the device will be tied to the user's Google Account for future convenience.

Manual Pairing:

If automatic pairing is not desired or if connecting to a device that doesn't support Fast Pair, manual pairing is an option. To initiate manual pairing, first ensure the headphones are powered off. Then, press and hold the power button for more than 5 seconds. This will put the headphones into manual pairing mode, indicated by a specific LED behavior. Once in manual pairing mode, the headphones will be discoverable in the Bluetooth settings of the desired device. Users can then select "JBL TUNE660NC" from the list of available devices to establish a connection.

Button Command:

The JBL Tune 660NC features a set of intuitive buttons on the earcup for controlling various functions:

  • Volume Up (+): A single press increases the volume. Pressing and holding for more than 2 seconds skips to the next track.
  • Volume Down (-): A single press decreases the volume. Pressing and holding for more than 2 seconds skips to the previous track.
  • Play/Pause (►/II): A single press plays or pauses the audio.
  • Call Management (?): A single press answers or ends a call. Pressing and holding for more than 2 seconds rejects an incoming call. Two presses activate the voice assistant (Siri, Google Assistant, Bixby).
  • ANC On/Off: A single press toggles Active Noise Cancelling on or off.
  • Power On/Off (⏻): Pressing and holding for more than 2 seconds powers the headphones on or off.

Multi-Point Connection:

A significant feature of the JBL Tune 660NC is its multi-point connection capability, allowing the headphones to be connected to two Bluetooth devices simultaneously. This is particularly useful for users who switch between a smartphone and a laptop, for example.

  • To connect a second device, ensure the headphones are already connected to the first device. Then, put the headphones into pairing mode again (by pressing and holding the power button for more than 2 seconds). The headphones will then be discoverable by the second device.
  • Switching Music Source: To switch the music source between the two connected devices, simply pause the music on the current device and then initiate playback on the second device. The headphones will automatically switch the audio source.
  • Phone Call Priority: Phone calls always take priority. If a call comes in on one of the connected devices, the headphones will automatically switch to that device for the call, even if music is playing on the other device.
  • Reconnection: If one of the devices goes out of Bluetooth range or is powered off, you may need to manually reconnect it once it's back in range or powered on.
  • Disconnecting Multi-Point: To disconnect a device from the multi-point connection, select "Forget This Device" in the Bluetooth settings of the respective device.

Maintenance Features:

Charging:

The JBL Tune 660NC headphones are charged via a USB cable. The charging port is located on the earcup. A full charge takes approximately 2 hours. A quick 5-minute charge provides enough power for 2 hours of music playback. This rapid charge feature is convenient for users who need a quick boost of battery life before heading out.

LED Behaviors:

The headphones feature LED indicators that provide visual feedback on their status:

  • Power On/Off: The LED will indicate when the headphones are powered on or off.
  • ANC On: A specific LED light will illuminate when Active Noise Cancelling is active.
  • BT Connecting: The LED will flash to indicate that the headphones are in Bluetooth pairing mode and attempting to connect to a device.
  • BT Connected: A steady LED light will confirm that the headphones are successfully connected to a Bluetooth device.
  • Low Battery: The LED will change color or flash in a specific pattern to alert the user when the battery level is low, indicating that charging is required.
  • Charging: While charging, the LED will show a specific pattern or color.
  • Fully Charged: Once the battery is fully charged, the LED will change to a steady light or turn off, indicating that the charging process is complete.

These features collectively contribute to a user-friendly and versatile audio experience with the JBL Tune 660NC headphones.
