WARNING AND INDICATOR LIGHTS
IMPORTANT: The warning / indicator lights switch on in the instrument panel together
with a dedicated message and/or acoustic signal when applicable. These indications
are indicative and precautionary and as such must not be considered as exhaustive
and/or alternative to the information contained in the Owner’s Manual, which you are
advised to read carefully in all cases. Always refer to the information in this chapter
in the event of a failure indication.
All active telltales will display first if applicable. The system check menu may appear
different based upon equipment options and current vehicle status.
This guide illustrates and describes the operation of warning and indicator telltales
that are either standard or optional based on the vehicle build. FCA reserves the right
to make changes in design and specifications and/or make additions to or improve-
ments to its products without imposing any obligation upon itself to install them on
products previously manufactured.
INSTRUMENT CLUSTER WARNING LIGHTS
– Electronic Stability Control (ESC) Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light
If the “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” comes on continuously with the
engine running, a malfunction has been detected in the ESC system. If this light
remains on after several ignition cycles, and the vehicle has been driven several miles
(kilometers) at speeds greater than 30 MPH (48 km/h), we recommend you drive to
the nearest service center and have the vehicle serviced immediately.
The “ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light” starts to flash as soon as the tires
lose traction and the ESC system becomes active. If the light begins to flash during
acceleration, ease up on the accelerator and apply as little throttle as possible. Be
sure to adapt your speed and driving to the prevailing road conditions. The light also
flashes when Traction Control System (TCS) is active. To improve the vehicle's
traction when starting off in deep snow, sand or gravel, it may be desirable to switch
the ESC system to Partial Off mode by momentarily pushing the ESC Off
switch.
