Emergency procedures
3.1 Jump starting
If the battery is flat, it is possible to start the engine using an auxiliary
battery with the same capacity or a little higher than the flat one, or
a booster battery.
IMPORTANT:
Never jump start the engine by pushing, towing or driving downhill.
The battery is located in the engine compartment, behind the front
left light cluster.
- Operate the handbrake and move the gear lever into neutral
(manual gearbox) or into Neutral (automatic transmission) and
the key in OFF position.
- Turn off the heater, the radio and all unnecessary electrical
devices.
- Remove the protective cover over the battery positive pole (+).
- Connect one end of the cable used for positive (+) to the
positive pole (+) of the flat battery.
- Connect the other end of the cable used for positive (+) to the
positive terminal (+) of the auxiliary battery.
- Connect one end of the cable used for negative (-) to the
negative terminal (-) of the auxiliary battery.
- Connect the other end of the cable used for negative (-) to a
safe earth point of the vehicle having the flat battery, far from
the battery and from the injection system.
