Overview

This document describes the JH168 Evaporative Air Cooler, a device designed to provide a cooler and more comfortable environment through evaporative cooling technology.

Function Description:

The Evaporative Air Cooler operates on a principle similar to the natural cooling effect felt when wind blows on a sweaty body. A circulating pump continuously draws water from a sump and distributes it evenly to CELDEK cooling pads via a water distributor. As outside hot, dry air passes through these wet cooling pads, the water evaporates, causing a temperature drop of 5-12 degrees Celsius. This process delivers fresh, cooler, and clean air.

Important Technical Specifications:

  • Hydraulic Pressure Requirement: 0.2~0.6 MPa (1.5~6 kgf/cm²)

Usage Features:

The cooler is controlled via an LCD controller and a remote controller, offering various functions:

  • ON/OFF: Starts or stops the cooler. When starting for the first time, it defaults to speed 2 with the cool function ON. Upon subsequent starts, it resumes the last saved mode and airflow settings.
  • Airflow Adjustment (SPEED): Allows users to change the airflow between low (L), mid (M), and high (H) speeds. The sequence is L-M-H-L-M-H... and is indicated on the "airflow indicator."
  • Mode Selection (COOL/VENTILATION): Pressing the "COOL" button on the LCD controller cycles through COOL and VENTILATION modes. When switching to COOL mode, the unit will run at the lowest speed for 30 seconds before returning to the previously set speed.
  • SWING Function: Activates or deactivates the swing function, indicated by the "SWING" button lighting up.
  • TIMER Function: Enables automatic start or stop of the air cooler after a set number of hours (N). The set time, displayed as "H x" on the temperature indicator, can be adjusted up to a maximum of 9 hours using the "AIRFLOW" button while the "TIMER" indicator is flickering. The timer automatically activates after 5 seconds of setting, and the "TIMER" light remains on. To cancel the timer, set the time to 00, press "ON/OFF" while the "TIMER" is flickering, or press "ON/OFF" after the timer has taken effect.
  • Water Addition: Water is added by pulling out the affusion hole and pouring water into it.
  • Water Drain: To drain water, open the valve cover; close it clockwise after draining.

Installation and Preparation:

  • Assembly: The cooler requires assembly of its truckles (wheels) and side panels. Two assembled frames are secured to the bottom of the water tank using ST5x25 bolts and a Phillips screwdriver. Side panels are installed by loosening 8 bolts, pulling up dust screens, and then pulling out/inserting the side panel.
  • Pre-assembly Check: Before assembly, users should open the side panel to verify all parts are present and undamaged. The supply voltage and frequency must match the rated specifications (230+/- 10V).
  • Water Supply: Ensure a clean water supply with a steady hydraulic pressure of 0.2~0.6MPa (1.5~6kgf/cm²). A globe-valve near the intake hose and an extra hose connector for cleaning are recommended.
  • Electrical Safety: An over-current and leakage protection switch should be added to the feed circuit for safety. The unit and power connection must have good earthing to prevent electrical shock.
  • EMI Protection: Keep the wall controller and control lines away from strong EMI sources (e.g., frequency speed controllers, SCR temperature controllers, high-frequency heating circuits, super high-power motors). If proximity is unavoidable, maintain a distance of over 30cm.
  • Environmental Considerations: Must be installed in a well-ventilated and dry place to ensure 100% fresh air intake. Sufficient air exhaust is crucial (3600m³/h airflow requires up to 0.8m² of exhaust area for natural exhausting, or 85% of airflow for mechanical exhausting).
  • Rain/Thunder: Power off the cooler during rain or thunderstorms to prevent moisture absorption by the air compressor.

Maintenance Features:

  • Shell Cleaning: Clean the cooler's shell with a mild cleaner and a soft cloth. Avoid evaporable liquids like gas or alcohol.
  • Wet Pad Cleaning: Remove the wet pads and brush off dust from their surface using a soft brush.
  • Water Tank Cleaning: The water tank can be cleaned automatically (set time and frequency) or manually. For manual cleaning, remove the drainage outlet plug.
  • Regular Maintenance:
    • Clean wet pads every two weeks to maintain cooling efficiency.
    • Drain water daily and clean the tank to ensure fresh air.
    • For long periods of disuse, power off the cooler, drain all water, and add a net to prevent dust, ice damage, and mosquito breeding.

Safety and Cautions:

  • This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless supervised or instructed by a responsible person.
  • Children should be supervised to ensure they do not play with the appliance.
  • If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or similarly qualified persons to avoid hazards.
  • Ensure the fan is switched off from the supply mains before removing the guard.
  • Unplug the appliance during filling and cleaning.
  • Keep away from any source of fire during assembly or operation.
  • Do NOT open and repair the unit by yourself. If problems persist after troubleshooting, contact the manufacturer or a qualified technician.

Troubleshooting Guide:

The manual provides a troubleshooting table for common issues:

  • Air cooler does not work: Check for power off/incorrect connection, controller breakdown, fuse burnt, broken electrical mainboard, or broken pump. Solutions involve replacing the faulty component.
  • No cooling: Check for no water/insufficient water, or a broken cool key on the controller, or a broken electrical mainboard. Solutions include adding water or replacing the controller/mainboard.
  • No airflow: Check for a broken key on the controller or a broken motor. Solutions involve replacing the controller or motor.
  • Unpleasant odour: Check for dirty water or a dirty cooling pad. Solutions include changing to clean water or cleaning the cooling pad.

Compliance:

The product is CE certified and adheres to ISO 9001 standards. It also features a marking indicating that it should not be disposed of with other household waste in the EU, encouraging responsible recycling to promote sustainable reuse of materials. The manufacturer reserves the right to pursue legal actions against unauthorized reprinting and to change product designs without prior notice.
