Why is my Jobsite CT2067 overheating?
    • R
      Rodney FinleyAug 15, 2025
There are several reasons why your Jobsite Tiller might be overheating. One potential cause is insufficient lube oil in the tank, so add lube oil as required. Another reason may be that the space between gears is too narrow, requiring reassembly. Also, check the space between the bearings, as too narrow a space may require readjustment.

Usage Features

The manual emphasizes several important usage features and safety precautions:

  • Safety First: Users are strongly advised to read the manual carefully before operation. Safety information is marked with "Danger," "Warning," and "Attention" symbols, indicating potential risks of serious injury, device damage, or death.
  • Preparation: Before starting, ensure the clutch is disengaged and the shift lever is in neutral. Clear the working area of sundries. Operators should wear appropriate clothing, including anti-skid shoes and safety glasses.
  • Fuel Handling: Fuel is highly flammable. Store it in a proper tank, refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine stopped and cooled, and tighten the fuel cap after refueling. Only use No. 90 petrol.
  • Operation: Keep hands and feet away from rotating parts. Be cautious on uneven or slippery surfaces. Stop the engine immediately if unusual vibrations occur or if the tiller strikes an object, and inspect for damage before resuming. Avoid over-tilling depth and over-speed to prevent machine overload. Do not use reverse gear on slopes.
  • Handle Adjustment: The handle height and direction can be adjusted for user comfort.
  • Tilling Depth Adjustment: Tilling depth is controlled by adjusting the height of the resistance rod; lowering the rod decreases depth, and raising it increases depth.
  • Engine Start-up: The shift lever must be in the neutral gear position before starting the engine. The engine should run at low speed (1450-1750 r/min) for 2-3 minutes without load before full operation.
  • Clutch Operation: To start the tiller, the clutch bar should be disengaged, and all gear shifting levers in neutral. To make the tiller work/walk, put the gear shifting handle in the desired position and clench the clutch handlebar. To park, loosen the clutch handlebar and put the gear shifting lever to neutral.
  • Environmental Considerations: Do not use the tiller in enclosed spaces due to poisonous exhaust gas. Do not cool the gasoline engine by pouring water on it.
  • Blade Safety: Be extremely careful with rotary blades as they can cause injury. Safety shields must be correctly installed when blades are running. Avoid installing rotary blades when walking on sand or stone to prevent damage.
  • Slope Operation: Do not use the tiller on slopes greater than 20 degrees. Prevent tip-over when operating on slopes.
  • Storage: For long-term storage, clean the machine, drain and refuel lube oil, paint pickling oil on non-aluminum parts, and store in a dry, safe, well-aerated place.

Maintenance Features

Regular maintenance is crucial for the tiller's longevity and performance:

  • Running-in Period: New or heavily repaired tillers should run without load for one hour, followed by five hours with light load. After this, all oil in the gearbox and crankcase should be drained and refilled with clean gasoline oil.
  • Daily Checking (Every-time Maintenance):
    • Listen for abnormal noises, check for overheating, and loose screws.
    • Inspect for oil leakage from the engine, gearbox, and running gear.
    • Verify oil levels in the engine and gearbox are between upper and lower limits on the dipstick.
    • Clean mud, grass, and oil stains from the machine and parts.
    • Keep daily records.
  • Primary Maintenance (Every 150 hours):
    • Includes all daily maintenance tasks.
    • Wash the gearbox and running gearbox, and change lube oil.
    • Check and adjust the clutch, shift system, and reverse gear system.
  • Secondary Maintenance (Every 800 hours):
    • Includes all primary maintenance tasks.
    • Check all gears and bearings; replace if severely worn.
    • Inspect other parts like rotary blades and bolts; replace if damaged.
  • Technical Inspection (Every 1500-2000 hours):
    • Take the machine to a specific maintenance station for a thorough check. Replace or repair severely worn spare parts.
  • Oil Specifications: Add SAE10W-30 lube oil to the crankcase. Refuel the air cleaner with 0.1L No. 20 oil. Do not add lube oil between the upper and lower levels on the dipstick.
  • Clutch Cable Adjustment: Adjust the clutch cable to ensure the small sleeve runs within the 2-4mm press range. Replace the cable if it runs out of range. Ensure the main output shaft stops immediately when the clutch handlebar is loosened.
  • Throttle Cable Adjustment: Adjust the throttle cable to allow the throttle handle to reach both fastest and slowest positions, then tighten the throttle switch.
  • Troubleshooting: The manual includes a troubleshooting guide for common issues such as abnormal gear noise, gear not running smoothly, machine overheating, and oil leakage, providing reasons and solutions for each problem.
  • Wearing Parts: A list of wearing parts is provided, including clutch cable, throttle switch cable, throttle switch, rubber handle bar, rubber sleeve, oil seal, fork shaft, and oil plug, along with their respective assemblies.
