This document is an instruction manual for the JUKI LZ-2280B series of sewing machines, including models LZ-2280B, LZ-2284B, and LZ-2287B. It covers installation, adjustment, operation, care, and troubleshooting.
Function Description
The JUKI LZ-2280B series comprises industrial sewing machines primarily designed for zigzag stitching. The LZ-2280B model performs standard zigzag stitching, while the LZ-2284B offers selectable standard zigzag and 3-step zigzag stitching. The LZ-2287B provides selectable 3-step zigzag stitching and 24-stitch standard scallop zigzag stitching. These machines are equipped with an AC servomotor (550 W) for precise control.
Key functions include:
- Zigzag Stitching: The primary function, with adjustable width and various patterns depending on the model.
- Thread Trimming: An automatic function to cut threads at the end of a sewing cycle.
- Reverse Feed Stitching: Allows for back-tacking at the beginning and end of sewing, or during the sewing process, for reinforcement.
- Soft Start Function: Limits sewing speed at the beginning to ensure proper stitch formation, especially with small stitch pitches or thick needles.
- Constant-Dimension Stitching: Enables sewing patterns with consistent dimensions, including straight lines and polygonal shapes.
- Overlapped Stitching: A feature for condensation stitching.
- Needle Up/Down Correction: Allows for precise needle positioning.
- Bobbin Counter: Tracks the number of stitches to notify the operator when the bobbin needs changing.
- LED Light: Provides illumination to the sewing area with adjustable brightness and color temperature (cold, warm, mixed).
- Wiper: A device that can be used or turned off, with adjustable position.
- Needle Thread Feeding Device: Helps stabilize needle thread loops, preventing breakage and stitch skipping, especially for blind stitching and high-speed processes.
- Pedal Control: Multi-stage pedal operation for low-speed sewing, high-speed sewing, machine stop, and thread trimming.

- Adjustments:
- Pedal: Adjustable connecting rod length and inclination for operator comfort.
- Thread Tension: Main needle thread tension, pre-tension, and bobbin thread tension are adjustable.
- Zigzag Width: Adjusted via a knob with a scale indicating width in mm.
- Presser Foot Pressure: Adjusted by turning a presser spring regulator.
- Presser Bar Height: Adjusted by loosening a setscrew on the presser bar bracket.
