Usage Features
The Jumbuck Delta 4 Burner Hotplate BBQ is designed for outdoor use only, in open-air situations with natural ventilation. It emphasizes safety with clear instructions for gas leakage checks, proper placement, and operation.
- First-Time Use - Curing the Plate: Before initial use, the cooking surface should be coated with canola or cooking oil and heated on low for about 30 minutes to cure the non-toxic paint coating, which protects the BBQ during transport and storage.
- Preheating: It is recommended to coat the cooking surface with cooking oil and preheat the burners on a low temperature before cooking to prevent food from sticking.
- Flame Thrower Ignition: The BBQ features automatic ignition. To light a burner, push the knob in and turn it anti-clockwise to the high position. A click should be heard and felt, and the burner should ignite. If it doesn't light on the first attempt, users should return the knob to "OFF," wait a few minutes for gas to disperse, and try again.
- Manual Ignition: In case of ignition failure, a lighted match or gas lighter can be used, keeping the hand below the burner.
- Flame Control: Control knobs allow for adjustment of flame height between low and high settings, providing flexibility for different cooking requirements.
- Oil Collection Cup: An easy-access oil collection cup is integrated to manage grease and fat, which must be cleaned regularly to prevent flare-ups and potential fires.
- Folding Legs: The folding legs make the BBQ more compact for storage and transport, enhancing its practicality for various outdoor settings.
- Side Shelves: Steel side shelves provide convenient space for food preparation, utensils, or condiments.
- Shelf Rack: A steel shelf rack offers additional storage beneath the cooking surface.
Maintenance Features
Regular maintenance is crucial for the longevity and safe operation of the Jumbuck Delta 4 Burner Hotplate BBQ.
- Cooking Surface Maintenance: After each use, burning at maximum heat for 5-10 minutes is recommended to clean the cooking surface. Food remnants and grease can be removed with a brush. The plate should then be recoated with cooking oil for continued protection, especially if not used for an extended period, to prevent rust.
- General BBQ Cleaning: The BBQ should be kept clean to prevent deterioration. It should be regularly cleaned with hot water and a non-caustic cleanser for stubborn stains. A fitted cover is recommended when not in use. Movable parts like hinges and wheel nuts should be lubricated.
- Oil Cup Cleaning: The oil cup must be cleaned and emptied regularly before each use to prevent overflow, which can cause serious burns or fires. It should only be touched when the BBQ and fat have completely cooled.
- Burner Maintenance: Burners should be checked periodically for blockages. They can be removed, tapped on a hard surface to dislodge residue, and cleaned with a wire brush or an air hose. Clogged ports can be cleared with a wire (e.g., a paper clip). After cleaning, burners should be lightly coated with oil to prevent rust. This procedure is particularly important in late summer or early fall when spiders are active, or after periods of disuse, to prevent "FLASH-BACK" (flame burning inside the burner).
- Gas Hose and Regulator Inspection: The flexible gas hose and rubber O-ring on the regulator end should be inspected at least once a year for wear or cracks and replaced if necessary. The hose should also be inspected for signs of damage or leakage before each use.
- Gas Cylinder Service: Portable gas cylinders need to be serviced or replaced every ten years, with the service date stamped on the bottle's neck.
- Professional Service: It is recommended to have the BBQ checked by an authorized service agent every 5 years to ensure all components are functioning correctly and there are no leaks.
- Storage: Gas cylinders not in use should be stored outdoors in a well-ventilated area, out of reach of children, in an upright position on an evenly surfaced ground. Additional gas cylinders should not be stored underneath or near the BBQ.
- Warranty Conditions: The warranty requires the appliance to be operated and maintained according to the manual. Repairs do not extend the warranty period, and using non-original Jumbuck parts will void the warranty. Installations must conform to local gas, electrical, and building standards. If converted to natural gas, it must be done by a licensed gas fitter.
